Wait time apps..

I have used a couple different apps and am wondering if others had the same experience.

The Mobile Magic app- I found to be the least accurate...for instance, I waited 30 mins for Luigis, (posted wait at the ride entrance said 30). MM had 15 minutes listed. When I left the sign at the front of the ride was posted as 45 mins. I looked at the app again...it was still listed as 15 mins. And, DCAs big board at the main entrance (with wait times listed...) was at 15 mins even though at the entrance to the ride was listed as 45 minutes.

Mouse wait - kind of hit or miss. Depends on how often people put in wait times.

Disneyland Wait from VersaEdge - maybe a bit better from Mousewait

Lines- I didn't use it this past trip, but it was really accurate last time I used it. I am thinking of subscribing again...

Anyone else have other experiences??

Thanks!!
Nancy

MouseWait seems to be better in the beginning of the day and afternoon. Once it starts hitting the evening hours, I think people are tired and just forget to update it, or just don't care anymore. I have found it to be particulary good though at being up to date on ride Closures...which I am more than happy to know about so I don't have to go all the way over to the other side of the park just to find out it is closed! :goodvibes

Last weekend I also found that MouseWaits was best in the AM and afternoon when the crowds were the highest. DL Waits was okay, but also kind of tappered off in the evening. I think any of the ones that rely on user input are only "good" when there are enough people in the park to keep the times up to date. The one thing I like the best about MouseWaits is that you can see the time when it was last updated. Other than that, I don't know that anyone of the free ones is consistently better than the other.

I had 3 on my phone and none of them were very accurate. I used Mousewait to try to find food locations and it was missing quite a bit.

I used Lines and Mousewait this last week. Mousewait isn't updated enough IMO. Lines was hit or miss too. The more crowded it was the more inaccurate it became. I remember walking by the HM which had a posted 30 min wait with makeshift ropes to extend the line out of the queu and Lines gave it a 4min wait.

My magic apps doesn't give times. It just says "see now" moderate and it was never crowded enough to see a line for a long wait. I wasn't impressed. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. My app is on an android and it was free. Do you need to pay for a better one?

I'm curious how these work too. The last time we went I didn't have a smart phone. This time I do and have mousewait and lines already installed on my phone.

Hi Nana...did you have locations turned on? It doesn't give you specific times unless it recognizes that you are in the park.

Thanks for letting me know interstate! I was thinking maybe lines was better. It worked well a year ago...pre-Carsland. But, I think now, the historical data won't be very helpful...so many more guests are there even on the "off" times!

Yes, you need to have locations turned on or else it will just give you generic "see now" wait times. The app only works if you are inside the park, which is slightly unfortunate because I like to check out wait times just for a bit of a Disney fix when I'm at home! :earsboy:

Absolutely, I used it last August and found it pretty accurate. This year, post- carsland, not so much.

This is a bummer to hear. I was really hoping they were more accurate. We have so much going on while we're at the park in November and we have a large group too ... having an app that would help with wait times was a really exciting thought! Oh well. I'll take it at face value for a general idea and just hope for the best.

Do they at least work well when it comes to setting reminders for shows or appearances or making reservations?

I went armed with a few of the apps.

"Lines" to me (touring plans app) was the most disappointing. I paid for this app, yet it honestly seems like they just don't have there hands into Disneyland...Crowd levels, dates events.. etc. Very disappointing.

MouseWait was my "go to" before my trip was over. Go figure the free one got err done.

Disboards app was great, to get additional inside tips on daily events etc.

Also used the "Disney Inside Out" ap, for all additional things such as menus, and reviews on items. If it the information you seek isn't there, you most likely didn't need it.

Have a great trip!

I used MouseWait which seemed to be in sync with the wait times posted at the front of the lines, but I always felt our time was more. I always thought they padded the wait times by a few minutes so it "seemed" like you weren't waiting as long, but this time it seemed like the opposite. :confused3
