Wait listing. Newbie here.

We've got a trip booked at the Poly 5/10 - 5/17 2020. We have another trip at our home resort CCV 11/10-11/14 2020. We've got some pts lying about that have been borrowed and banked until the poor things are just exhausted and we can't bank them to 2021 (they're not many- 11) and I fear they'll be lost. Adding one night at the start of our CCV in Nov would be great, but of course, that one night (11/9) is wait list only at this point. If I do wait list it, will it affect our already booked res at all? I'm worried that making the wait list request will screw up the already confirmed reservation. I'm also going to have to purchase the one-time use pts to make it work, since I'm like 4 points short for that one night. OR.... I could rent pts to add onto that November trip. But then, I'll still have those 11 points hanging about. Don't hate me, I'm just trying to figure it all out and OMG. Calling DVC Member Service? Done it, been on hold for at least 30 mins every time. That's why I'm asking y'all. Thanks.

If you don’t have enough points in your account, your wait list won’t fill unless you authorized borrowing or replacing an existing reservation. OTUPs won’t do you any good right now. They can only be purchased for use at 7 months or less.

If there is still availability at Poly for your dates, you can have MS replace some of the points used for that reservation with OTUPs and this would free up points that could be applied to that night in November should it come through.

As mentioned, the only way to use OTU points is at 7 months. If the reservation at Poly is using CCV points, then what you can do to free them up is call MS to book a dummy reservation any night for the same points as The one you want in November and book it with your 11 and buy OTU points.

Then cancel that reservation, call MS back, and ask them to put the OTU points into your Poly reservation to free up enough CCV points to put in the waitlist.

Since the room is WL only, renting won’t work because if you can’t book it, neither can another owner.
