Wait List Questions/dilemma

We are headed to WDW from 12/4-12/9 and are currently booked in a 1 bedroom at our home resort AKL. I've had a waitlist request in at the Beach Club since 9 am of the 7 month mark for our trip but it has not come through as of yet.

As our trip comes closer and closer I find myself really wanting to stay somewhere else, we've only stayed at AKL since becoming members in 2008 and we won't be back to stay at a DVC resort again until 2013 and I just want to experience somewhere different.

My question is, with our trip coming up so soon, is it worth it to waitlist somewhere else? Would we have a shot of getting something? And what resort gives us the best shot of getting the waitlist fulfilled? We have enough points/are open to staying at pretty much anywhere - WL, BLT standard view, Boardwalk either view, OKW, or SS. Preferences would be for Boardwalk or BLT.

Also, is it possible to prioritize my wait list request? I really, really, really want to stay at the beach club, so if I wait list at say OKW too and the OKW wait list comes through first, does that mean they will automatically cancel my BCV wait list request or will that stay in effect?

Thanks!

You can have two active waitlists. If the first comes through they will automatically cancel the second if it is for the same dates. At this late date I don't think you will have any success with adding another waitlist as you would be very far down. And remember any waitlist that causes you to use less points at the 30 or 31 days till check in would cause those points to go into holding.

Thanks. I need to talk to DH and see what he wants to do......
I may add one anyways at SSR since it is so big I figure that is our best chance. I'm thinking folks canceling at the 31 day mark is our best shot now.

And we are booked in a value at AKL so our point costs will only go up :-)

As long as you are okay with the BCV waitlist being cancelled if your SSR room comes through, then it won't hurt to put it in.

Your other option, if you are up for a split stay, is to call and see if any nights at the beginning or end of your trip are available elsewhere, change those nights and the wait list the rest. At least you might get to stay elsewhere for part of it.

Things change all the time. Today, I called to possibly modify m Feb reservation and at 10:30 am when I called, the only thing available in a studio for 3 consecutive nights during President's week, was SSR.

When I called back to book at 12:30 pm, they now had AKV standard view available for those 3 nights so I booked that instead.

So, you just never know what will be available when you call.

Good luck!
