Wait List Question...

I am going to WDW in October with my DSiL (her first trip!) for my birthday. Currently, we have a savanna-view studio booked at AKV-Kidani for our first two nights. Then, we are moving over to a standard 1BR at BWV for three more nights. (*No comments on the split stay....we WANT to try two resorts!)

Since I have no intention of ever staying at BLT with my family of 4 (1BR's too many points...studios too small), I figured this might be a good time to stay there. We're currently waitlisted for a LV studio for our first two nights, a thursday and friday. The main reason I would like to stay there is so that we can experience the TOTWL. We're also thinking about doing the DxDDP for those two nights and there are a lot of great TS at the various resorts. Since we won't have a car, it is an easy walk to the MK bus depot which will make going resort to resort about as easy as possible.

So, in order to increase my chances of getting a room at BLT, I would like to waitlist for either a standard or MK view studio....but which one? I figured the LV would have the best chances since it is such a high % of rooms, but it would increase my chance of getting ANY studio there if I add another WL, right?

I know that my chances of either a standard or MK view are about nil, but then again, I thought I'd never get a standard 1BR at BWV at the 7-month mark during F&W and that happened. I think I will add a waitlist request for a MK view studio...that ought to amaze my DSiL!! What a way to "welcome" someone to WDW for the first time!

We are wait-listed in October for an MK view because that is the view we would want if it opens up. I am not sure what the odds are for getting into a standard vs. MK view, but it is probably slim enough for both that it does not matter which view you choose. It helps that you are only waiting for two nights. If you are arriving on Columbus Day weekend, I would think that your chances are approaching "0%".

It's actually the Thursday and Friday after Columbus Day, but it seems like studios in October are slim-pickings right now....for any resort. If we get "stuck" at Kidani, I will be totally OK with that.

I would add the MK view to the waitlist. Since it is more points than standard, maybe you would have a better chance of getting that? Good luck to you!

There will likely be additional BLT points declarations by October, givng waitlists a pretty good shot.

If you don't mind going for the extra points I'd add MK view to the waitlist too

And I'm going to make a prediction here, your waitlist will come through & then you'll be convinced to stay at BLT with your family on a future trip!! DH & I didn't think we'd want to go for the points for our family of 5 to stay there either & since we love our OKW home so much we didn't think we'd be into the whole high-rise resort thing, etc. but then we took BLT tour in August and all I can say is WOW !!! we are sold !

I added the MK waitlist today. I'm hoping that nothing gets screwed up with my points though....

I have 230 2011 OKW points that were transferred in to my account (June UY) that I need for a June 2012 family trip to OKW. I'll be banking those on June 1 AND transferring in another 170 points from 2012 to cover 5 weeknights in (2) 2BR's.

For my October reservation, I told MS to borrow from my remaining 11 AKV points (2012) to cover the LV waitlist if it comes through and then, in addition, borrow from my 2012 HHI points if the MK view comes through. The CM told me that I can't do that since I have current points (the 2011 OKW points) available and they can't borrow any points if I have current points available. WTH?? Just as I started to try and explain that I'm fairly certain that is not correct, she put me on hold to verify. It was rather amusing because when she came back on and said she could do it, she acted like she was bending the rules or doing me a favor.

I'm hoping that the LV waitlist comes through more than the MK view. I didn't really want to borrow into my 2012 HHI points since we only own 50. My plan is to do a 1BR for 5 weeknights over spring break (1st week of April) in 2013, and then every three years after that. Right now, that takes 135 points, out of our 150. So, I had 15 points that I could borrow (I'll only need 6 if the MK studio comes through) without messing up my plan for 2013. IF there is another point reallocation, or we decide to try for 4 nights in the summer, those 15 points would be helpful which is why I would prefer the LV waitlist.
