Wait List for AKL Value at 7 months?

Hoping to get some advice. Our home resort is SSR but I just booked AKL Kidani Standard Studio for 6 nights (Sunday-Saturday) in May. Is it worth waitlisting at this stage for a value studio as I imagine we will be far down the list? We would really like to save points as we want to go twice next year. If I do waitlist I've read it's better to break down into two smaller reservations - but what happens if just one is filled, would they cancel my entire original reservation or just the nights that are replaced with value?

You're going to be behind everyone who waitlisted during home resort, since they go so fast, and you'll need to match 6 days. If you waitlist 6 days, all 6 have to match. They won't put in two days that come available and keep your other 4 days in Standard. Waitlist is all or nothing.

If you don't have any better use for the waitlist, sure, go for it. But your odds are terrible.

Are you willing to split stay? You might be able to use waitlist and stalking to get it by dong a few nights at a time. But the risk is you could end up not getting them all

When I was booking my end of March stay at 7months, I ended up having AKV value pop up for 3 of my 5 nights. I wanted the whole stay at CCV but could only get 2 nights to start. So I booked elsewhere. As I was stalking, the value rooms cam up. Booked it. Then, over the course of a few weeks, I was able to slowly get what I want and released those nights.

It was definitely a long shot having them show up, but it shows it happens. Of course, I was willing to do a split stay from the start so that my waitlists were for fewer nights.

As others have said - the likelyhood of it coming through is V, V small. I have been told that if you waitlist 3 nights of your 6 nights, they SHOULD only cancel the 3 nights to match, but I have heard others tell of them cancelling the whole six, so I am a little leery of this. Would suggest throw the waitlist up for the full 6 nights and then stalk the site if you don't mind a split stay - but I wouldn't say your odds are good.

Thanks all. Yeah I thought our odds were pretty darn slim. As we have a one year old, packing up and moving rooms for a split stay is probably just too much of a hassle. I'll just throw up the whole 6 days on the waitlist but not keep my hopes up!

I would waitlist a standard view instead, the odds are better for it to match as there are more standard view rooms. I know that it will be more points but IMO the difference is not that big.

OP has a standard studio booked. So trying for the long shot!!! Lol

Unless you have another use for the waitlist, it doesn’t hurt. You might hit the jackpot and someone cancels exactly what you waitlisted.

Or go for a 1 bed, they are regularly available that time of year and summer at 7 months, so if not available, more chance of waitlist coming through.
