Wait for RSR fastpass?

Just checking. Looking at plans for Nov. 2 (sunday) Nov. 3 (monday). DCA is early entry both days I believe. If we tried to get a FP for RSR first thing, how long a wait would we have? Would we be better off trying that on a Monday instead of Sunday? Appreciate any opinions?

Are you going in for early entry or not? And do you mean what time would your FP return be for? Or how long would you have to wait in line to get a FP?

for Nov 2, touring plans assumes you can't get a fp until 9am. I plan to show up around then, they say it will be a 20 minute wait with return time shortly after lunch

The lines for RSR fastpass were much shorter recently (early October) than previous visits. CM are encouraging guest to ride RSR during EMH and not setting up a line. As always, fastpass distribution does not start until regular park opening. A recent change, fastpass distribution only happens when RSR is operational (which is the typical policy for other attactions).

Sorry, I typed fast and maybe wasn't clear. We would not be eligible for Early Entry. Of our first two possible days to visit, both would be EE days at DCA. :worried: I was trying to figure out that if we had my DH go to pull fastpasses right away for RSR, how long it would be before he joined us somewhere else in the park. I worried that there may already be a long line formed for pulling fastpasses from people already in the park for EE.

Toy Story Mania is a big priority for our girls, so I'm hoping the line won't be too bad right at regular opening. I still can NOT believe this attraction isn't a fastpass in DL! I was thinking DH could try to get RSR fastpasses while we headed to TSM. 20 minutes gives me a good idea to plan around!

DCA is a lot different than DHS. Its also 150 yards from DLP. Both provide a lot more rides per square foot, and as a result, TSMM lines arent as bad.

Aloha,

My recommendation is to head straight to TSMM and enjoy a couple of rides together as a family. Get RSR FPs later. RSR is vastly superior at night.

I've just replied to another thread, but we were there on the Friday of Labor Day weekend this year. It was an EE day, but we didn't have EE, just entered the park for 9am rope drop. We went straight to TSM, waited about 20 minutes, rode that, then practically walked onto Screamin', then got some PP photos. It was about an hour after the park opened when we walked up to the RSR FP machines and grabbed FPs with a mid-afternoon return window with absolutely no wait.

I think it's past the point now where you have to get them straight away or miss out. Go later when it's quieter - you can stay together as a family, you won't have to fight the crowds to get there, or waste time lining up when you could be doing something else. The Paradise Pier area was very quiet (even with EE), and a pleasant, stress-free way to start the day.

For someone who hasn't been to DL in about 20 years, before all this planning was required, can you please elaborate on this for me?

I assume there is a board showing what time the Return times are, correct? So if I go up to the FastPass and it says (hypothetically) 12:00PM, and I want it for 8:00PM, I would just come back and time the line later to get that time?

Yes, there is a sign that says for what time they are currently distributing FPs. If you want a later return time, you can show up a little later to get them.

Don't believe touring plans when they say FP will run out two hours after the park opens. We were there this past week and got FP's at around 10:45 am on Monday 10/20 (when the park opened at 7 for EMH) for around 2 p.m.

On Wednesday 10/22 when we had early entry, we picked up FP at 7:55 a.m. with a return time of 8:55 a.m. (I didn't realize that they were even giving them out that early but I went over to get them when they opened and they were already handing them out.) When we went to use our FP at 8:55, the standby line was only 15 minutes long at that point. We were able to get another set of RSR FP that day around 2 p.m. with a return time for 7 p.m.

Best advice I have is to use the Otto phone line (714-520-7090). It's an automated system provided by Disney that can tell you how long lines are and approximately when the next available FP time is. It will save you some walking and it works for all rides and attractions in both parks. It's not always 100% accurate, but generally a lot closer than any of the apps we were using.

ETA: I also never waited in line for a FP. Even in August when we were there and I went right at opening to get FPs on a day with early entry (and we didn't have it that time) I waited maybe two minutes for the next available machine. They have a cast member at each machine helping people get their passes quickly.

Thanks for all the replies. I really wanted to fit TSMM, Soarin, and RR in the same day (even the same morning if possible). We have a two year old, and TSMM was always a HUGE hit with my other 2 girls at that age, and one of the few where little and bigger kids liked it equally as the "baby". My oldest is DYING for Soarin and will need to get on it the first day. It's her favorite, and our last trip to WDW was a Make a Wish trip for my middle daughter. You only get a 3 day pass to WDW on Make a Wish trips, (the rest of the time you get Sea World, Universal, etc) and of those 3 days we just didn't make it to Epcot. She was really bummed. And of course, we're excited to try RSR. We have 5 day passes so I know we'll get to all 3 eventually, but it would be great to fit them all in that first day.

We have 5:30 supper reservations at Carnation Cafe that day in DL, but could maybe return back to DCA for a late RSR return time I suppose. As a WDW person still wrapping my head around that one.

You shouldn't have any trouble doing all three fairly early in the day. Head first thing to TSMM, then send a runner to RSR for FP and everyone else head to Soarin'. I never saw a wait over 25 minutes for Soarin' last week.

I will say that RSR is a better ride at night. It's fabulous during the day but simply amazing after dark. So you might even want to wait and get FP for Soarin' first (which will probably be less than an hour away before you can ride) and then get RSR a little later when the evening ones will be distributed. Or get FP for it twice, once for a day and once for a night ride.
