Wait for Annual Pass or Buy Ticket

I am taking my daughter in August (right before she turns 3) and then going again in March for an adults only trip so was going to buy the Enchant Magic Key and work around the blackout dates. Of course I was in the area Memorial Day weekend and went to buy the pass the day they stopped selling them so no pass for me. Trying to decide if I should just buy a California Resident ticket now to reserve my dates for August or wait a bit and hope they release some information about new passes/start selling them again before my trip. I know the people who bought passes when they first came out are going to need to renew in August so they are going to have to say something by then at least about renewals. My preference would be to have a pass but pass or not I am still going on both trips.

If Disney is trying to pull the stunt they pulled last year, they want people to buy the California resident tickets and then not allow those to be upgraded so people will be forced to pay again for a pass.

I'd wait as long as you are comfortable before deciding what to do. If you're staying at a Disney hotel, then you can pretty much wait until the day before you trip and there should still be park reservations.

Thanks! That was my initial thought too! There a no dates sold out for the California Resident ticket yet so I am thinking at least for now I will wait and see. Not staying on property as of now but like many others I am patiently (or not so patiently) waiting to see if any info about a new hotel discount comes out

I think the CA tickets this year do not explicitly state you can not upgrade, it doesn't mention anything about upgrading at all. So nobody knows exactly what is and isn't allowed. Mid august is when the lower 2 tiers are able to go again, and many schools start mid August (LAUSD is Aug 15) so I don't how how quick the reservations will go. Most days after Aug 15 are already "full" for key holders already, so you may be buying a ticket and upgrading on the last day anyways if they bring back passes
