Hello y'all

Sooo I cant get the room type I want for a few nights in october. I booked a garden view in the contemporary but hoping that in september when people have to pay the full whack for their room, someone will drop out and I can upgrade.

Anyone ever done this? Book something and then keep checking to see if it becomes available?

thanks

We do that all the time. Keep checking availability, it may open earlier than you expect!

I check online all the time for room categories I want that aren't originally available. Another thing to check is how many nights you're staying and if that might be the problem. I wanted the Contemporary for NYE and saw that the theme park view was available if I stayed longer, but not the dates I needed in between. So I called and they were able to override the system and get me the room.

thats interesting I wonder why? Maybe the know that they will sell the room so hold out for more money?

I think with their new system the computer doesn't want orphaned rooms so they put limits on the length of stay. It's annoying since I like doing weekend trips so my trips are usually short.

If the room is available for longer than your planned stay you don't need to change your dates. Just call to see what Disney can do about getting them to override the night limit. For mine I saw that Friday-Wednesday was available for the room, but I only needed it Sunday-Wednesday which was showing unavailable. I knew the room was there since the longer stay was available so that was how I got the room. If it still shows as unavailable when you expand the dates then the room is just booked and you'll have to play around to see if someone cancels. But people cancel all the time so don't give up.

If you're within limits of free cancellation (which often means room-only bookings), you may also book the longer reservation (that you don't need), then try to shorten it online. Sometimes, it works. (It did work for our upcoming trip at the YC this summer.)
