Waist Packs

Thanks for your details Mark. Right now I have a vest and a backpack, but I am not sure I like the idea of either for Disney. Hence the reason I looked at the waist pack. Which one did you use?

Right now, I am looking at the Kata w-92 or lowepro off road as the two main ones. I am also considering the mountainsmith mentioned by a pp because it is cheaper. I really like the Kata because it can double as a shoulder bag and comes with an elements cover.

I will let everyone know what I decide and give a report after our August trip regarding what worked and what did not.

At Disney, there can never be a "fashion incident". It looks like anything and everything goes. I despise fanny packs, but have one I use for theme parks (Pentax branded). I replaced it with a Domke should/hip bag for the most part.

But yesterday, I was at Six Flags (Chicago), and they have all types of new wacky regulations about bags. About the only bag you can take on a ride now is a fanny pack. Hopefully Disney doesn't go this route. Six Flags provides lockers by their rides, at $1 a pop.

This is the type of fanny pack that I used to use.

I only discontinued using it when someone broke into my hotel room and borrowed it without my permission.

When I used it at the parks, I just popped it off and set it by my feet on rides or when sitting. On fast rides, I made sure that my foot was through the strap.

I'm very, very concerned about fashion, so I had to strongly consider the ramifications of wearing the bag in public. In the end, I determined that it would look great on me (but then, pretty much everything does).

As a Briton, I do so hate the term "fanny pack".

PS Over here, we call them "bum bags". Which is better. Lots better. But still not very nice
