We would like to drive from our resort to Wailulu Bar and Grill on a Sunday evening, our first night on Disney property to have dinner, does this restaurant take reservations and would love to try to time it so we could maybe catch the MK fireworks, what time should we try to get a reservation for?

Thanks

No Wailulu Bar and Grill does not accept reservations, and there is now less parking available at the Polynesian resort due to construction in the parking area. Check your park times as to when Fireworks are scheduled in MK.

what about Trader Sams Grog Grotto?

Just to add to @RuntheMouse great response. To use MDE to join the wait-list for Wailulu Bar and Grill, you will need to be right at the Island Tower. It is a location enabled wait-list.

We were surprised at just how close we had to be before it allowed us to join the wait-list. We tried as we passed the Moana pool and it said we were too far away.

FYI, there is a good chance you will not be allowed to park at Polynesian without a dining or resort reservation. You may be directed to park at TTC & have to walk or monorail over. All monorail & Epcot resorts have gotten very strict with parking. It may depend on the guard on duty & how busy the resort is. If you’re going to be there after mid July, I expect them to be very strict because of the nighttime parade.

Edit to add: since you’re staying on property, better to use Disney transportation. You can bus to MK & monorail or boat to Poly. Or go to a park & take a bus directly to Poly. Reverse to get back to your hotel, or ride share. Minnie vans would also be an option & they can drop at the resort while a ride share may be turned away.

When we tried to join the walk up for Kona it kept saying we were too far away, even when we were standing right at the restaurant 🤣🤣
It’s very glitchy, I find. I’ve had that happen but then we were able to check in for our ADR from the 2nd floor hallway in Rarotonga.

Wailulu we didn’t even bother with the app and just walked up to the podium both times.

All this. But if you prefer to take your car for whatever reason, as an on-site guest you can park at TTC. It’d be a long-ish walk over to Poly (or a monorail part of the way), but it is an option if you’re either bus-averse or want to see the whole resort.

That happened for me last week to check in at Kona. They said it was a glitch they were having.

I literally was at the check in desk but too far away to check in? 😂

Oh well they checked me in person.

We stayed at POP and rode the skyliner to the Studios and a bus to the Poly. MK fireworks coincidentally happened while we were eating! It was a perfect evening and we took the same route in reverse back to POP.
