We have 2, 20 something DD's so thought it would be fun to do 2 nights in Waikiki before our 5 nights in Aulani.

We will get some groceries on the way to Aulani. But, does anyone know an easy grocery store on our way to Hilton Hawaiian Village from the airport. We will have a fridge so would like to get some drinks and snacks for the room and maybe a few non perishable breakfast items.

Also, would the ocean house just for pupus and drinks be a nice place for our first night in hawaii or too much?? Thinking it's walking distance.

If not, suggestions for heavy appetizers or light dinner to walk to first night.

As always, appreciate the help!

How exciting your going to Aulani. My favorite place. I was just there last week for a conference at the Hilton. There are a lot of ABC stores which is the same as a 711/Royal Farms/Wawa/Loves. There seemed to have a lot more food and alcohol options then a 711, but they are walking distance to the hotel. The Hilton is a huge village, they may groceries options onsite. They do have several restaurants including a sit down pizza place. The restaurant by the ocean was good too. We went to dinner at Cheeseburger Waikiki. They have apps and reg dinner menu, $14 for a burger. A far easy walk from the hotel. Also they have breakfast specials for $5 - eggs, toast, n potatoes. You could always go to the main street (forget the name), they have every restaurant from McDonalds to PF Changs to Margaritaville. Local eateries as well.

We stayed at the Hilton Village 2 years ago for a week but did it after we were already at Aulani for a week (BIG MISTAKE). Although the Hilton is nice it can in no way compare to Aulani. That beng said they do have a store on site where you can buy groceries (snacks, drinks, breakfast food etc). The Pizza place is very good, we ate there twice. If you plan on trying to hang out by the main pool during the day a word of advice, save yourself a chair about the same time the sun comes up. Have fun at Aulani, we will be there in June for 2 weeks and we cant wait :cool1:

There is an ABC store within the Hilton Hawaiian Village. You can probably get what you need there. But if you want more, there is also a larger ABC super store pretty much across the street.

If you're willing to go through Honolulu on your way, there are six Safeway stores there.

Oahu is a small island. Nothing is all that far out of your way, for the most part.

Closer to Aulani, there's a Target as well as a natural foods market, the name of which escapes me.

For what it's worth, I didn't care much for Waikiki. Very touristy and just didn't feel like Hawaii to me. I was much happier taking it all in at Aulani.

Being an ex-Navy sailor your 20 something DDs will love Waikiki's nightlife ! Lots of bars and dance clubs !

Hope they don't love it too much!!!

Thanks for all the tips.

Do we pass a safeway or two, or would we have to drive out of the way? I know we can hit target and/or costco on the way to Aulani.
