Yeah, we're going to HH. I've always wanted to go and we amazingly enough got ressie's tonight!!

So dh keeps telling me there must be a restaurant on-site for dinner. I think not. Tell me about the food options on-site. I'm sure i've seen that they have counter service or something for breakfast and lunch. Didn't think they offered dinner hours though... We'll be there 4/9-4/14 (if the dates matter at all!)

There isn't an on-site restaurant, but there are several restaurants in Shelter Cove, which is a very close walk across a footbridge. There were several seafood places and a mexican place. It overlooks the marina, and is a beautiful view. we were there the about the same time last year, and loved HH. Our best meal last year was at Truffles Cafe, near the outlet stores.

There is no full service restaurant at the resort, however, Hilton Head is a mecca of wonderful restaurants. You will be given a dining guide when you check in. It describes the many, many choices you will have. Just be careful if trying to find a restaurant after dark. Hilton Head does not have the bright lights of many tourist areas, nor does it have tall signs. Enjoy!

Hi Laura-

While there is no on-site dinner options at HH, its just a quick walk over the bridge for some really nice restaurants. I believe I read somewhere that there are over 250 restaurants located on HH Island. We were there last July and ate at the local Outback Steakhouse, Fitzgeralds and a wonderful cozy Thai restaurant that I can't remember the name of!

We will be there the same time as you at Easter- from 4/7 - 4/13 in a 2BR.- Do you have any kids? Ours are DS 14, DD 11 and DS 7.
You will fall in love with HH, its an amazing place.

I'm assuming that there is an information center at HH. I was wondering of anyone has received information from there prior to their trip to HH. I would love to check out the dining options. Thanks. Halle

You can also try www.hiltonhead.com for more information about the island itself, what to do, and where to go.

When you check in, be sure to ask for the restaurant guide that lists all the menus. That's how we usually decide where to go when we want to try something new. I would offer to send you one, but we'll be there just before you -- April 2 - 7!

We will be leaving on the day you arrive. I can't wait to get back there and now I'm thinking of going home? Wahh!

On site...no restaurant...just a take out window, at the main part of the resort and a small sit down cafe at the beach house. The take out window is Tide Me Over and it has staples such as hamburger and fries, hotdog and fries, good onion rings, chicken sandwich, fish and chips. Breakfast is bagel and egg sandwiches, french toast, hashbrowns, biscuits and biscuit and egg sandwiches. They have soft drinks and lemonade, coffee, hot chocolate, iced tea. Next door to Tide Me Over is the gift shop with ice cream cooler, drinks cooler(including beers) and a few basic groceries like coffee and filters, cookies, bread, and a few cold groceries like lunch meats and butter, bacon, cream cheese, milk.

At the beach house they have Signals, which is another counter style operation with a similar menu, but also 5 or 6 tables for sitting inside as well as tables outside.

Both places have refillable mugs for 10-11$. The food is tasty.
The best food option is to book "A Private Affair' with Chef Gordon, if you are looking for something special. After Signals closes, Chef Gordon creates a dining experience for you and your guests. I can't wait to do this as I've heard nothing but great things about the whole experience.

Otherwise Hilton Head itself has numerous places to dine. The resort places a list in your packet and some (listed in the packet) will give you a discount if you show your DVC card. There are places within walking distance, but I've only tried one of those, the Mexican restaurant in Shelter Cove, and I found that food bland (I like mexican food). I've always had a car, so I've driven to wherever I've gone to eat. There is also the Piggly Wiggly, just before you arrive at the resort, if you choose to cook dinner, or need a few snacks.

I know you will love visiting 'my' favorite resort!

There was a good thread last month about dining at Hilton Head. It listed several websites that had restaurant reviews for HHI.

We've found that the island has a tremendous collection of restaurants of all kinds. And because there's so many restaurants, the competition keeps the quality pretty high and the prices surprisingly low for a resort area. You certainly getter better value for your dining dollar at HHI than you do at WDW.

Here's the thread: HHI Dining

I checked out that HHI dining review, and I beg to differ with the review on San Miguels! Those margaritas were horrible, and the food wasn't much better! Not someplace we would go back, but to each, their own opinion!!
