last summer we took a stroller all around the world for my 4 yr old, but I am thinking about using our wagon this next summer.....has anyone used a wagon and how does it compare to a stroller?

I've never used a wagon at WDW but we have one and have used in on walks. I wouldn't take it. Pushing a stroller is so much easier than dragging a wagon, imo. Plus, absolutely no shade to be hade in a wagon (unless you have one with a cover). It would also be a pain on the monorail, bus, tram, train, etc.

Stroller!!! If you are taking Disney transportation to get around how on earth would you get your wagon on and off those shuttle buses.

No wagons are allowed, as the previous poster said. Nothing that is pulled is allowed.

Sorry, no wagons allowed:
Per the FAQ section on the official website:
Q. Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the Theme Parks?

A. Items that you may not bring into the Theme Parks include, but are not limited to:

Items with wheels, such as wagons, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, two-wheeled or three-wheeled conveyances, strollers larger than 36" x 52", suitcases, coolers, or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations), and any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV wheelchair or stroller
Alcoholic beverages
Weapons of any kind
Folding chairs
Glass containers (excluding baby food jars and perfume bottles)
Pets (unless they are service animals)
In Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park (for the safety of the wildlife), balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted

that is odd since I remember seeing them last summer in the parks.....

It's hard for CMs to enforce rules at times, although I'm not sure why security let them in, but we have seen a few wagons and rolling coolers sneak in. Wagons are not allowed as they are not safe - it's hard enough to avoid huge double strollers & scooters, you throw in wagons and it would be a nightmare - especially if kids fell out and got injured.

I've spent about 24 days/nights in WDW since last May...I have never seen a wagon. They are not allowed.

But....this past August, I did see someone pulling a rolling cooler over by Test Track. I immediately wondered how they got that thing past the gates!! Those cast members are usually very good about that sort of thing.

Nope. Wagons aren't allowed. As the pp mentioned, anything that you pull is not allowed. People that are bringing in the rolling coolers, backpacks, etc. Probably, aren't rolling them in, but are carrying them; so the CMs at the gate are obviously missing them. I wish more CMs enforced the rule inside the park, too.

People tend not to look behind a person, so someone is more likely to trip over something that someone is pulling more than something someone is pushing. I hope that makes sense.

DEFINITELY not at WDW! Last trip, a HUGE family was getting ready to go into MK with two wagons...Security said "Sorry, no wagons." The people got really upset...they had to turn around, go to their car or resort and bring it back.

I do know for a fact they allow them at Busch Gardens in Virginia, though.

Officialy wagons are not allowed, but you can get them in, we did several times last year, it depends on the CM at the entrence gate, we got in MK, Epcot and MGM, but not AK, we where told that it was because of the animals?? like they have the no straws rule.
If you do take take it and they will not let you in they will let you leave it with the rental strollers and give you a rental for the day.

Just because you got them in doesn't make it a good thing to do. They are not allowed for a reason and when people skate around the rules it doesn't make it right for everyone else to do it.

Disney will not "give" you a rental. You will "pay" for a rental for the day. And I don't see how you would be able to leave it at the stroller rental seeing as it is inside the park. Once your in who is going to make sure you go to the stroller rental.

Wagons are not allowed nor should they be. If you bring it be prepared to walk back to your car or the resort.

Sorry to flame a little but this kind of stuff just irritates me.

Have fun on your trip!

So, you brought them in knowing they weren't allowed? :sad2:

Firstly it was not my child in the wagon, she has a Bugaboo, it was a friends wagon and child who we went to WDW with, I did tell them that they where not allowed but they wanted to use it, and yes they did get given a free rental stroller the one time that they where stoped from using it.
As for braking the rules....what about all the kids that roll around the parks in their heellys???

Well I was thrilled on Christmas Eve morning to see a cast member in AK stop a family & WAIT while the mom removed both kids wheels from their Heelies. :thumbsup2

Well, that is different. You must admit that your original post sounded like you brought in a wagon knowing they weren't allowed. You didn't mention a friend (or any other travelling companions) that you were with who may not have known otherwise.

And as far as the Heelys go, I agree with you. I wish CMs were more diligent about enforcing the ban on them, and I wish parents were better about saying no and not allowing their kids to wear them in the first place.

My first trip I brought a wagon. They didn't say anything in the0 hotel, on the bus or through the turnstile. Then a CM came over and said wagons aren't allowed, and I was dumbfounded. (I was just a novice then :o ) they did store the wagon and give me a free stroller.

How did you get a wagon on the bus? Was it a Disney bus?
