Well, it's finally time. We will be heading out late this afternoon -- figure we will get a 3-5 hour headstart rather than just leaving tomorrow morning. I was able to change our reservation at the Fort -- we will be arriving on the 1st now instead of the 2nd. Will give us a day to relax before jumping into the parks.

My crew: Me, my wife Michelle, daughter Clarissa (12), son Caleb (10), daughter Liberty (4), and daughter Brooklyn (1). My older sis will be flying out from Denver and meeting us there on the 2nd. A family friend (she started off as our babysitter, now we call her friend) will be flying out with her toddler son on the 3rd. She has had a tough life. Her mother walked out on their family when she was nine, never to be seen again. Her husband took off and left the country shortly after their son was born. She is a good person -- this was our gift to her for Christmas.

We will make it as far as Independence, MO, tonight -- and Columbia if we are lucky. Then hope to camp around Nashville Friday, and somewhere in southern Georgia for New Year's Eve.

Just for Born 2 Fish, I went out and picked up a small camera that can fit in my pocket. Will post pics at some point. Not sure if we are going to have internet access on the trip (if we do, that means my work can get a hold of me).

See ya at the Fort!:cool1:

The weather for Tn and Monteagle is clear of snow and ice. :thumbsup2 Nashville as far as I can remember doesn't have any CG's close to I-24 but if you can go another 25 miles to Manchester there is a KOA right off the interstate. There may be signs for a CG near Lavergne /Smyrna, believe me, you don't want to stay there. :sad2:

If internet means work, we can wait until you get back for the pics. popcorn::

Safe travels and Magical times.

We may be pushing it to get to Manchester. Might look around the Clarksville area instead.

bigredbill,

So you DID get to add January 1. Cool! :cool1:

I remember you wanted to add it a few weeks back and couldn't get it. So this means you can check in and set up the day before Nebraska plays South Carolina in the Cap 1 bowl. You gonna try to pick up some cheap tickets outside the stadium?

Hope you have safe drive, good weather, and a winner on the field.

If you can get to Clarksville, there is a nice campground called Clarksville RV Park and Camping at exit 1 on I-24. I don't know if they are open thou.Their phone number is 888.287.8638.

Can you tell me what phone number you called to get an extension on your Fort Wilderness reservation. I tried a few years ago but could never get it.

Thanks for the tip on a campground near Clarksville. The number I called regarding my Fort Wilderness reservation was just the normal Disney reservation line: (407)-W-DISNEY(934-7639)

EDIT -- was able to reserve at the Clarksville RV Park for Friday night. Thanks!

God speed John Glenn .

umm, I mean, hava great trip anna great time ya'll, :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We'll be checking in on Jan. 1, too. We'll be leaving north Alabama on new years eve morning and stopping somewhere in south Georgia. right now- it's looking like we'll be at the wal-mart in Valdosta. I heard there are always TT there. Can't wait to get to Disney.

Bama - I was able to update my ressie a few days ago. Not sure on the game. While I sure would like to go, not sure my wife is too fond of me taking off for 5-6 hours while she tries to watch our little ones on vacation. I might just kick back in the trailer and watch it on TV. Not too many folks are predicting Nebraska to win, so it may just save me some frustration.

Have a great trip and remember us back here in the 40 degree weather!!!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay: Remember now, Nebraska has a 50/50 chance of winning! Think positive!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Well, we have been in four states today. Started out in East Kansas City, Mo, and drove in Illinois, Kentucky, and are now camped in Clarksville, TN. If there is one thing I learned from today's drive, is that folks driving through Missouri on I-70 must really like their porn. I was amazed at the amount of adult entertainment stores (among other things) we passed on that interstate.

Looks like it is going to be pretty chilly in Orlando next week. High on Tuesday just in the 50's. That stinks.

I may need to recant on this. I just found out that one establishment we drove by -- Big Tasty Butts -- is actually a BBQ joint.:lmao:

Wow. Just got home tonight. Exhausted from the drive. Will start on a trip report in the morning.

Welcome Home! You're just in time for the Artic Blast.:banana: Will be waiting for the trip report and where did you stay after Clarksville?
