wagon/carriage ride help

Does anyone have video of the wagon rides or carriage rides offered at the fort? Or anyone know the path the rides go down?

I am trying to figure out which option is best for viewing christmas lights.

I see the wagon ride is cheaper...are the views just as nice as the holiday sleigh ride?

The wagon ride will only go through a couple of loops. Usually the 1400, 300 or 500 loops. The rest of the trip is spent down by the lake on or on the roads between loops. Your best bet is to rent an electric cart for the day and then you can ride through the entire campground. If you just took the wagon ride I feel you will be disappointed that you've missed 90% of the loops and campsites.

So what is it like down by the lake?
Do you think this route will allow us to soak in "some" decor and lights?

I am thinking of suprising everyone with a stroll thru the campground the first night of our trip. Hoping the path the wagon takes is relaxing and christmas lights and decor can be seen. There are 11 people in my party. I understand the carriage rides (which I would love to ride if only my 4 were attending) will most likely allow us to see more. I just hate to have everyone take turns for the carriage ride to return...would rather we all ride together

Plus each carriage ride is $60 for 25 minutes...total of $180. I could pay less than $80 for all 11 of us, enjoy the stroll together, and ride for 45 minutes.

Just want to make sure the view is worth it before I book.

You will be able to see some lights during the wagon ride, but it will be limited to a couple of loops. When the Wagon goes down by the lake it's more so you can see the Castle as you look across the lake and you experience some of the "Wilderness" since it's just trees, grass, sand and the lake.

As for booking, the wagon ride is first come/first served. You just walk up, pay your money and get on the wagon. We usually go down 30 minutes early and the kids play at the playground and we grab a drink from Crocketts. This way if it's crowded we can get in-line if needed. The last few times we went though you could walk up just a couple minutes before and get a seat. Wasn't too busy. The later wagon ride runs during the fireworks is usually busier as they park down by the lake to watch.
