waffles and ice cream

Who likes waffles and ice cream?

This morning I was making DD's waffles for breakfast and now I'm in the mood for a waffle ice cream sandwich. Haven't had one in years.

I love those waffle icecream sandwiches you get @ the fair, with the neopolitan (three flavors?) icecream in the middle. that is THE BEST THING EVER!@!!@! ooh I can't wait for summer now.

That reminds me of my dad! My dad, when we were growing up would make waffles and ice cream all the time! He used Eggos (sorry not homemade!), and put whatever ice cream in it.

I thought it was a Trenton thing... I'd never heard of anyone else doing it but my dad!

Therer used to be a great place in Wildwood NJ, on the Boardwalk right by Morey's Pier and the old Wax Museum, that made THE best waffles and ice cream. It burned down about 15 years or so ago in a fire; I have been looking but have not found a place to equal it yet. Anyone here remember the name?

I used to get waffles & ice cream while walking the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. I haven't had one since, and it's probably been 10 years or more!

I think you're right. As I remember the story is that an ice cream vendor at a World's Fair ran out of dishes and went over to the waffle vendor to see if he could help. The vendor bent a waffle into a cone shape to hold the ice cream and that was the birth of the ice cream cone.

BTW, waffles and ice cream are yummy. Especially if the waffles are just a little warm.

battricia- that's how I like them with the neopolitan ice cream.

Cindyb- when I said making DD's waffles I should have said taking frozen waffles out of the box and putting them into the toaster. I've never made homemade waffles, lol.

Have you had waffles with ice cream if not try it and like CEDmom said the waffles should be a little warm, Yummy.
