DBF bought me a waffle maker and I love it:love::love:. We bought it and stopped at the grocery store and bought some mix, came right home and made waffles like a mad women....so now I want to venture out and make some different flavors...

Please tell me your best recipes that is a favorite in your household. We are up for trying anything.

Best recipes are the ones where you separate the eggs and beat the whites stiff then fold into the batter.......SO FLUFFY......SO GOOD......MUST EAT fresh. The other recipes are faster where you don't have to separate the eggs but we find those ones the best. I had no idea till my brother in law made wafffles for us one time how good they can be!

This is the recipe that I use. It's a Belgian waffle recipe, and takes forever, but they are so good. Because it takes so long, we usually only have them for holidays/birthdays. I have one of the older VillaWare Mickey waffle iron. Love them!

1 pk yeast
2 cups milk - lukewarm
4 eggs separated
1 tsp Vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour sifted
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tbsp Sugar
1/2 cup melted butter

Sprinkle yeast over lukewarm milk, stir until dissolved.

Beat egg yolks and add to yeast mixture. Also, add the vanilla.

Sift together flour, salt, sugar

Add to liquid ingredients

Stir in melted butter and combine thoroughly.

Beat egg whites until stiff

Fold into batter

Let rise in a warm place for 45 min or the batter doubles in size.

Use 1/2 cup batter per waffle. 2-3 minutes to cook.

This recipe provides ~12 Mickey Head waffles. When I make it for just DH and me, I only make a half batch.

That's how I make them. Truly are the best.

But we also freeze them and they turn out great. We found the key to doing it was to freeze them on a cookie sheet and then put them in a freezer bag. They crisp up great in the toaster. We found when we just stuck them in the bag without pre-freezing them, they stuck together and seemed to be more mushy.

You can add bananas to the base or peanut butter.

I like to start with a plain waffle mix. As you pour the batter into the waffle iron, add a few pieces of cooked bacon. Deee-licious!

I make waffles from scratch a lot. I couldn't tell you what recipe I use (just a standard recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook I have). My favorite way of making them is to add a tsp. of cinnamon and a tsp. of vanilla. Sometimes I add almond or coconut extract too (if I use coconut I'll also toast some coconut to put on top):goodvibes. I also make a butter pecan syrup to go on top sometimes (and then I go spend 3 hours in the gym ;) ).

Wow- thanks -never heard of a recipe like that with the yeast- going to have to try it!

Foodtv.com has a delicious recipe for gingerbread waffles. I make them at Christmas time and they are just wonderful. :lovestruc

Google "yeasted waffle recipe" I've never had the patience to beat up the egg whites, but I've made many recipes where the batter sits from the night before to rise. Absolutely some of the best waffles I've ever had!
