Waffle House?

I bought the Entertainment book and see several coupons for "Waffle House". Is it like IHOP or Dennys? Is there a website that shows locations? I want to map them out on my mapping software. What are the prices like?

We always go to the Waffle Houses when we drive to WDW or anywhere in the South. Here is their website:

They have a menu you can download and a listing of locations. It is much more informal than IHOP or Denny's, but it's also cheaper. Most of them are "cash only" establishments. The closest ones to us in SoCal are in AZ and NM. You have to try it!!!

Now I want a waffle...darn low carb diet!!!

Waffle House is great! When DS was younger Waffle House was as much a part of a Disney trip as the park!

We were always on a budget and stayed offsite when he was young. The Waffle House let us fill up well for breakfast. We were never much ready for lunch 'til 2 or 3 in the afternoon after one of those breakfasts!

The Waffle house is so much better than IHoP or Dennys. Cash only!! don't forget about that. So many people get up to the register and hand them a credit card and have to go find a ATM while the rest of the family waits. IMHO their food is so much better.

It is the first stop for my family as we drive to Florida, since we usually leave at 4:00 am. The only downfall that I see, is that with a large family, we end up taking up two of the booths. I always feel guilty about that, since WH are so small. Oh, and we are used to non-smoking restaurants, so that is always a shock to our system. BUT, we love WH-they are always so friendly! Be sure to get the hash browns!

Pretty sure they are CASH only - no traveler's checks. The prices are CHEAP though. Our family of 4 has a nice breakfast there for $20 or so.

And I agree - get the HASH BROWNS! Scattered, covered, diced, and chunked. And be sure to listen to your server "call out" your order to the short order cook. It's all part of the atmosphere.

Boy, do I miss Waffle House...I can smell that syrupy/pancakey/coffee smell from here.

My parents lived in Ocala for a long time. WH is across the street from Dunkin' Donuts (which we also don't have here!!!) Talk about being stuck between a rock and a sweet place!!!

We also love Waffle House. One of the things we look forward to driving to and from Florida is that we get to eat there a couple of times.

One word of caution, though. Outside of Florida (that has a smoking ban), Waffle House tends to be rather smokey. It is a small place, just one room, so they can't have a non-smoking section. Thankfully, smoking isn't permitted in restaurants in Florida so we can enjoy our meals there.

I love WH and live in this weird place where there are 3 within minutes of each other! While I can't speak for the ones in the Orlando area, the ones here now have an ATM type machine where you can use your debit card to pay your bill. Not sure what charge there is for this.

While everyone here seems enamored with the waffles, a trip to WH for me would not be complete without an order of hash browns scattered, smothered, and covered (at least).

I checked the website, but the list of Florida locations was kind of vague:

We are arriving early in morning and would like to try it for breakfast. Anyone know of one between MCO and the Downtown Disney area (where we are staying)? We will probably take the I-4 route.

I know there is one at the Lake Buena Vista exit (Highway 535) immediately before Downtown Disney. You can see it from the exit immediately on the right hand side. They recently redid the exit numbers but it USED to be exit 27 on I-4.

The drive from MCO to DTD is only 20 minutes or so with no traffic so I would recommend driving straight to that one.

They are all along the highway from Orlando to Indiana. We drove straight back home on Christmas Day this past year (with the goal of being in our house before the clock struck midnight on Christmas night.....so we would be 'home' for Christmas, we made it by an hour!).

Anyway, almost every restaurant was closed that day EXCEPT Waffle House. They never close! So they were crowded but friendly, and we found the food to be just fine.

I didn't even realize about the 'cash only' thing because we ended up just paying in cash since we had some left from our trip.
Glad to know that for future reference.

They WILL take traveler's checks (or did the last time I tried to use one). When I used to travel with DS alone and he was little, I was always nervous about cash. Took very little, always used travelers checks, so I'm almost 100% sure they take them.

Speaking as a native Californian and a firm believer that this great country of ours has a West Coast and an East Coast and not much in the middle (j/k, no hate mail please)...

Waffle House is the greatest thing since In and Out Burger. Now if only I had the $$ to open a franchise in SoCal.
