W.I.S.H.-Wide Monday Mixer!

I, too, love to read. I'll read anything and everything, as long as I'm interested. I was never one to enjoy the required readings in school.

I'm OBSESSED with Indy Car Racing. My favorite driver is Marco Andretti, and I follow the season faithfully. I have other favorites, and I have drivers I hate. It's my own mini-drama, though not many people understand who or what I'm talking about if I get onto a streak.

I dance and sing. I'm currently taking Broadway Jazz and Tap, and though I haven't danced in almost 8 years, I love them both and find that I remember some stuff. I sing in my church choir and every other chance I get.

I guess my last interest or whatnot is pageants. I did one as a senior project and discovered I really liked them. I currently hold the title of Majestic Miss Seven Springs, and my past titles are Teen Miss Princess of Wilmington and Overall Miss Christmas Angel. I'm planning on spending the next year or so preparing for and competing in Miss NC prelims, so we'll see how that goes.

Hmmm....taking Disney, Health and Fitness out of the equation feels like a big chunk of my life. I'll go with reading as my favorite quiet activity. I am trying to cut back on my television viewing, but I'll still watch good sci fi almost any time. Also, I like to just hang out with my wife and dogs when I can.

Most of my hobbies are at least indirectly fitness. I love to hike, bike, even walk around outside, Even in the winter.

I guess travel would be a big interest of mine. I don't get to do nearly as much of it as I would like since it isn't cheap but I do take as many little weekend trips as I can and try to take a big trip every couple of years or so.

When I think of what I would do if I won the lottery and had free time and money, it would be travel. Of course even that is kind of fitness related since almost all of my trips involve running, biking, or something like that while I am there, but I love to go see other places.

Apparently I have NO life, since I can't think of anything outside of Disney, Health & Fitness. :confused3

I'm a part-time doctoral student (health related)
Full-time professor (fitness & health related)
LOVE the outdoors, volleyball, rock climbing, playing with my DD (fitness related)
DVC owner (Disney related)

I guess I'm not so well-rounded. That's O.K. I'm happy with that! :rotfl:

I too love to read. Especially Southern humor. We love to cruise and try to alternate that with Disney. DH and I do a podcast about cruising, that is a hobby I kind of enjoy (it can be a pain sometimes, but is fun most of the time). I'm not a big TV person, I tend to spend more time playing on the computer. We play World of Warcraft quite a bit. Plus working full time, its hard to have a lot of free time to do anything once I get home, feed everyone (including the dog), walk said dog and do homework with DD. And people wonder why I run at 5:30 am??

Food and wine - it balances out with all the health and fitness stuff.

Traveling is a biggie for me too. I try to balance the trips to WDW with other places! ;) I love to read, watch my Packers, cook, organize everyone I know (yes, I am one of those people), boat, camp, volunteer at my son's school, and watch his sports. Hubby and I took dance lessons last year and loved it. I like to go out now and salsa dance. Hubby likes to go to the country bars. So, we alternate!

But, running and WDW are my favorites. Sorry! :thumbsup2

Wow, my life is crazy busy, but I love it.

I'm a waitress and bartender. I substitute teacher. I run a lacrosse program with 6 teams grades 3 - 8. I'm organizing a huge fundraiser for my sons 8th grade class (it's a basket raffle with over 75 baskets plus some gift certificates and that will accompany an indoor carnival with dozens of games and a concession stand with fair foods) and I'm also organizing and making decorations for the 8th grade grad dance. In my spare time I'm planning our summer vacation which does include WDW, but also a western caribbean cruise on NCL's brand new ship the Epic and some time at US. Our family loves to travel so if we aren't on a vacation we are planning the next. Did I mention that I'm also a lifeguard? My family has a sugarhouse so we are in the heart of sugaring. Some where in there I do sleep and breath :lmao:

Outside of Disney, Health and Fitness, what other interests do you cultivate?

In no particular order, here are some of the things that I do or spend time being interested in when I'm not training for a race.....

Dog sports (agility, tracking, obedience)
Cooking (love it, but don't always have the time for it)
Wine (trying to free up room in the cellar for more bottles :))
Reading (mostly magazines and periodicals but also some fiction too)
Travel (we take at least one overseas trip a year)
Live music (mostly rock concerts, some of which have involved our overseas travel too)
Trashy reality TV (everyone got to have a guilty pleasure, right?)

My non-Disney/Fitness vices are:

Historical/Documentary TV. esp Discovery/Science/History & Military Channels.

LOVE to Geocache
Read
Cook
Eat
Stress about my kids in College (although they don't give me a reason too, I guess it's just built-in)

There are things to do outside of fitness and Disney? :rotfl: Just kidding! Some of the other things I like to do are:

Photography - definitely not a pro but it is fun to play around with lenses and photograph everyday things from different perspectives.

TV - Yeah, another person who watches waaaay too much!! Especially reality TV ...

Movies - Watching, critiquing and being involved in the creative process.

Shopping - 'nuff said!

Travel - If only I had more money *sigh* but I still think it's fun reading up on all the different places in the world other people have traveled to.

Eating - I guess that's why I run ;)

I have to add cooking to mine also, I didn't even think of it. I like trying to make new things. Sometimes it is a success, sometimes a failure, but that is part of the fun.

Is it a bad sign when you don't get to the Monday mixer until Wednesday? :upsidedow

I love to scrap. Have done regular for years adn just started doing digital last year. Still love regular, but I can digi scrap in teh car and get my backlog done a little quicker. ;)

Also lovve to read. Nothing that takes much brain power (sad, but true). I think all day. Reading is to give my brain a break. :rotfl2:

Is it a bad sign when you don't get to the Monday mixer until Wednesday? :upsidedow

Carrie, I don't think it's a bad sign at all! I think it's great if this turns into a week-long sort of thing, but I will continue to post the starter question on Mondays. :)

Here's today's - borrowed from the Biggest Loser thread - thank you, Lynsey!!:

What are your favorite Disney restaurants and why? What's your favorite meal there?

I love 50's prime time. I've only ever had the pot roast there. It is delicious! When I had it there after the princess (at the end of EMH) I think that they gave me what ever was left in the pan because there was A LOT of roast. I'm drooling as I think about it.

There are so many favorites! We never miss Pecos Bills though - love their fixin's bar.

You mean I have to pick favorites?????

First place probably goes to Boma. I love everything there, and the fact that you can choose. Gold Coast she-crab soup, Mulligatawny, potatoes with Afritude. And of course the desserts (though I may be one of the few who doesn't care much for zebra domes)
After that comes......whatever the burger place in MGM...scuze me, DHS...is called. And Starring Rolls.

And of course wherever you can get a Dole Whip.

Hmmm, favorite Disney restaurant and meal.

On our honeymoon, I really enjoyed the Yatchmans steakhouse. The filet was fantastic (though I really haven't ever had a bad filet)

I really like the Strawberry Chicken salad at the Plaza.

DH loves the wrap at Morocco.

And Dole Whip for dessert. Always. Well unless there is something really good and chocolate-y available.

What are your favorite Disney restaurants and why? What's your favorite meal there?

My favorite Disney restaurants:

Breakfast --O'Hana -- I love the family style, delicious meal, and the characters are a blast! My favorite items are the fruit juice blend and the breads.
Lunch -- Beaches and Cream -- I'll be honest, the burgers and fries are good, but I'm all about the ice cream! My favorite is the No Way Jose!
Dinner -- Boma -- This is a great place because we can all find something we like, I love the carrot ginger soup, and the surroundings are pretty awesome, too! I also enjoy the variety of hummus, zebra domes, and the salmon -- but I'll eat a little of everything that appeals to me!

Maria :upsidedow

I'm going to do it by category.

Counter Service - Columbia Harbour House - Anchors Aweigh tuna sandwich with a bowl of clam chowder and a glass of sweet iced tea

Buffet - Boma - No question here. Breakfast or dinner, you can't go wrong.

Table Service - (This is a tough one!) For special occasions, it has to be Artist Point - Grilled Beef Tenderloin. For more everyday dining, it's probably Kona Cafe - Chicken Noodle Soup to start, and whatever strikes my fancy that day for the entree.

And of course, for dessert, a Dole Whip. Although the chocolate martini at the Territory Lounge at Wilderness Lodge makes a fine dessert as well!
