I have heard great things about Whispering Canyon...the loads of fun. I orig had a 12:30 ressie; however, had to switch to a 2:40. The WHOLE reason we wanted WC is because of the silliness and the rowdiness...we want to be a part of it! I'm really nervous about going at such a late time and the staff will be too sillied out for us to have the rip-roaring time that we want. Anyone have any experiences/observations?

If you want the whole WC experience, I would strongly suggest dinner. DH and I have done lunch a few times and it's not the same. Lunch was much more tame. Dinner was alot of fun though :)

they "stop" their lunch at 3pm, so at 2:40pm the place is going to be pretty dead. We went at 2pm once and we were only 1 of 2 tables that were occupied.

If you really want rowdiness, then dinner is your best choice, around 6pm-7pm is the rowdiest. If you go around 5:30pm then the first pony races will be starting around 6pm, perfect time.

My ressie is for 5:10pm. I figured an earlier time would mean less potential for having to wait. Now I'm wondering if I should try to change it to 6pm. Might be too late to change now anyway. All the best times are probably gone.

Darn, that was what I was afraid of! We were planning on doing AK in the morning and then heading to a waterpark....but, come to think of it...the waterpark closes at 6! So maybe making a reservation at 7:00????

formernyer: keep your 5:10pm. You're not necessarily going to be seated at exactly 5:10pm.

Crazy4mandms: 7pm sounds good.

I've read about the pony rides and straws. What else fun goes on here? I keep hearing it's fun and I am very curious.
Thanks!

General silliness and antics from the staff basically, which depend a lot on who your server is. There's a fairly recent thread on this board where people wrote about their experiences.

I too would love to know more. My DD8 is sitting here with me & asked "what are pony races?" :confused3 We've heard cool things about, but haven't been there yet. We're thinking about doing ADRs for a trip later in the year (the July trip is already full! :rotfl: )

I have a ressie at 12:30 and hoping for the best... They have no dinner ressies open on the other days that we're there, unless we want to eat at 9 pm! Now I'm nervous! I thought maybe at the "height" of lunch we might still have some fun? Do they still do pony races and such at lunch time?

TIA :confused3

We had ressies for a late lunch this spring break. It wasn't really crowded, but that let our server (and the other servers there) actually be sillier, if that's possible. Since they weren't racing around serving, they interacted more. My trip report (on the TR board) has lots of details. I think it was our next to the last day, so it's toward the bottom of the first page.

But some highlights included:

Our server taking our camera all around the restaurant to get pictures of everyone else (said something about having permanent record of all the people who could testify to our bad behavior).

Another server giving our server a really hard time, and trying to get us in on the action. My kids leapt to Chad's defense, so they got teased too!

The whole straws thrown at you thing.

The pony trot with my mom and I singing happy birthday to DD. They got everyone there in on the action (hence the reason for the witness photos).

I'd say it was plenty of fun, even with fewer people there. So don't worry if you can't get the ADR changed.

Well, I switched my ADR to 7:10...I actually think that would work out better than 2:40!!! I'm thinking we'll head to the waterpark at 2, and it closes at 6 so plenty of time to 'gussy-up' before dinner...don't plan on doing anything else after that but go back to the hotel! Thanks all for the advice!
