W/All Star resorts...is it worth it to upgrade to a preferred room?

We stayed in Mighty Ducks (standard) and loved it! The theming turned out to be great and we loved the pool. We always went to Music for food and buses because we were really close to their food building, so the kids thought we were actually staying at Music because we were catching Music buses.

I would consider paying for preferred if the Toy Story section (which was adorable) or the other preferred sections really called to me but I didn't see a need for it just to be closer to the main building. I've stayed in Broadway at Music and in the 90s at Pop and those were much longer hikes.

Thanks sooo much for all the information! I appreciate it:). I think we may go ahead & do a preferred room & request Toy Story theme. :)

Bout to book All Star Movie resort. Should I upgrade to a preferred room? Or is regular just fine? What are the themes for the standard rooms? Thanks!! I'm learning so much from the forum:)

I don't find it worth it to upgrade. At All Star Movies if you pick a standard room I think you just get Mighty Ducks or Herbie the Love Bug. When we stayed last September we were in Herbie.

I thought the rooms were tastefully decorated and my son loved the Winners Circle car area with the misters that was in the courtyard. The walk to the pool and foodcourt took about 5 minutes with my son and 2 minutes alone.

I don't care for the Mighty Ducks theme, but you have a pool right outside your room.

Unless you want a specific theme, I am on the bandwagon for the Mighty Ducks building. All of the comments made about the pool and the music main building are true for us and are worth so much to us.

We are considering either AS Sports or Movies for our next trip and I am curious about the Herbie section. I don't want to pay for preferred because we have to get two rooms and that would be an added expense I would like to avoid. From the map it looks like Herbie building 7 is right next to Fantasia and not a long walk from the main building, but I have had others tell me that it is a far walk. If we stay at Sports, I am looking at the Touchdown section as I've read that it is very close to the main building and it isn't preferred. I think we would like either resort, although Sports being first on the bus line makes me lean more towards that resort. We stayed at Music in a family suite last year and loved it since the suites are in the buildings closest to the main building; but we want to try a different resort next time and the suites at Music seem to be excluded more from the bigger discount promotions lately so we are considering just doing two standard rooms next time around, especially considering they all have mini fridges/coolers now. I would really like to hear more feedback from those that have stayed in the Herbie buildings at Movies :)

We were in the Herbie section during our trip the last week of September last year. And you are right, the furthest Herbie building is about 15 steps to the Fantasia buildings. It did not seem busy at all, and like I said before, the walk didn't even register with me or DS or even my mom who tends to complain about stuff like that.

We did, however, bus share the entire trip and I guess that was a little cumbersome. By the time the buses got to us they were pretty crowded and it stunk to be stuck on the bus stopping at two other resorts before being taken to ours. I would think sports has the edge in that area, however, I just was so not into the sports theme that I've never really considered the resort. I love the theme at Movies though.

Thank you for your feedback. I personally like the theming and food court better at Movies, plus the rooms were refurbished recently; but Sports definitely has an edge when it comes to the buses. Decisions, decisions... :scratchin

From what we experienced the busses weren't as different as at sports. Most busy times they will split up the busses and send only 1 to each resort. The rest of the time the only disadvantage is waiting an extra 5 min while you drop the others off. Rarely was it an issue in finding a seat.

That's true. Those refurbed rooms were SO nice. I forgot to take that into consideration...that gives the edge to Movies...in my opinion :)

The Sports was redone too in the not so distant past.:)
