It seems as though there is not a lot of positives here about buying at VWL. I am waiting for my info to arrive and I guess they will be trying to sell me on VWL right? What is wrong with VWL and which place is best?

It depends on what you are looking for. Plenty of people have purchased at VWL because they love the quiet and atmosphere of that resort. Others are so sold on the location of BWV, that they want to wait for BCV. I own at OKW because I like the atmosphere there.

Disney only has VWL,VB and HH to sell at the moment, so that is what you will be offered.

They will also be trying to sell you VB. They will be telling you about all the money you can save with MB. They will tell you that the eleven month window is meaningless.

There is nothing really "wrong" with VWL. I just believe that it returns less value for a point spent there because it doesn't have the location BWV does, yet it has the same small units and costs the same points as the prefered view.

Which is best??? I believe OKW is best by a longshot. Others think BWV is best, some find the woodsy feel of the VWL makes that resort best.

I'm right, by the way.

The best advice is to buy where you like. VB and the DVC sales staff are all part of a vast conspiracy to keep Rich busy on these boards. BWV is probably has the best location but it is up to you which resort fits your needs and your desires. I own at VWL because I love the Wilderness Lodge, others own where they do because they like that property. Irregardless of where you buy, the 11th month window is only important if you must have your home resort and must have certain dates and accomodations. Otherwise, it doesnt matter where you own. As much as this hurts to say, I agree with Rich that your points go farther at OKW than VWL but OKW is also ten years old and VWL is a few months old. It all comes down to personal preference, flexibility, and which reosrt theming you like. Another reason I like VWL is that I have two small children who love the Magic Kingdom and love to take the boat there from VWL so......

We just bought at VWL. We stayed in the Lodge in Feb., stayed at YC last summer, and prior to that have stayed at the Contemporary, BC, and Ft. Wilderness. It's hard to pick a favorite, but my least fave is the Boardwalk area. Yes, it's a nice walk to Epcot, there are plenty of things to do, but it's also very crowded. I liked the Lodge because it was fairly quiet and the theming is breathtaking. The bus transportation was not a problem for us, and I love the boat ride to/from MK. And I'm right, too :D .

It's not that VWL isn't a great place - it's just that it is so new there aren't a heck of a lot of people on the boards that own there. Most of us own at BWV or OKW. If you are looking to do WDW most of the time, I would certainly buy at VWL. The WL itself is gorgeous and one of the deluxe resorts I always swore I would stay at - just never did since we bought into DVC. But, now with VWL, we will definately get that chance at some point.

And remember - you get your 11 month window at the property you purhcase, but you can always use the 7 month window to stay at other DVC resorts pending availablity. We own at BWV and haven't stayed there yet - but we have stayed at OKW once and Vero twice.

Rich is wrong. VWL is BY FAR the best (and I've never seen it!) But I love WL because of the fantastic theming, so I know VWL is best.

And I'm Right Of Rush! :D

In case you may have been thinking that there is something "wrong" with VWL b/c of them reducing the MB program for VWL, Disney did that b/c VWL is TOO popular. They needed to slow down sales. We saw our guide about a month or 2 ago and he said that the reason why the sales guides are pushing VB (sorry Rich, but this should kill your theory about VB and the guides pushing it, and this guide never pushed VB on us or our friends) is that VWL was selling so fast that they would be sitting around for a year or more with nothing to sell on property until BCV opens up. So they try to push VB to slow down the VWL sales, and I am sure the reduction in the MB program for VWL had the same thinking in mind. Please don't frown on VWL (it is a gorgeous property) if the reduction of the MB program made it seem less attractive. Disney just has no need right now to entice buyers as much as they used to for DVC and they actually need to slow sales of VWL until they can sell BCV.
