We've stayed at the WL on multiple occasions, and have always liked it; however, we're at the VWL right now for the first time, and we are extremely impressed. In fact, I'd say we've found a new favorite resort! It helps, admittedly, that it is cool outside and we get to enjoy sitting by the fire place to warm up and soak in the atmosphere, but I think we would love this place in the heat of the summer as well. The room layout is basically identical to the BWV and SSR rooms that we have stayed in before, but the resort layout i great and not too spread out (no long walks to the pool or long hallways to the lobby), and we've really enjoyed all of the dining options, transportation provided, and hospitality of the cast. I'm not one to want to start a "which resort is better" thread, but this SSR owner will gladly admit, I've found a home I prefer to my own. We like it so much so, in fact, that my wife asked if we could add on here, and that is after we just added 340 points at BLT. Our only complaint is that the MB has no video inputs on the TV (very minor, I know).

If anyone has any questions, or wants me to get pictures of anything, let me know; we'll be here until Saturday, November 22.

I agree, my wife and I have already sai that once we can we will be looking for a VWL contract to buy, we already own at SSR, BWV, and AKL but we stayed at VWL last December for christmas and just loved it.

Enjoy your trip! We will be at VWL for a few nights in December and I can't wait! The atmosphere is perfect this time of year there. If you get any pics, would love to see them :)

They did a great job with the recent rehab. The resort looks brand new. We were there last week and found the resort very relaxing and beautiful.

There are decorations up at all of the parks, but nothing at the WL or VWL yet.

I can't wait, we are staying in VWL in January for 8 nights :cool1:

Someone said they had refurbished the rooms. Can you post a picture of a refurbed room (studio or 1bd preferably)

Thanks!

Feb. will be our first trip to VWL and I can't wait! I can't remember reading anything bad about VWL.

Gee, I wish people would quit spreading the word how great VWL is.

Laura

Yes!!! The and place is a DUMP!! And they even have a villa with a view of it!!!!

:lmao: OP, there is a VWL Groupies thread that you might want to join.
Ownership at VWL is not a prerequisite. Just a love of it.:cloud9:

This makes me so excited to hear! We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in May and fell in love with the resort. We bought DVC soon after returning home :cool1: and I am super excited to try the VWL one day. Did they make any major changes during the rehab or just replacing worn items?

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them. The room is in great shape, and the carpet and fabrics all appear fresh and new. Interestingly, if there was a refurb, the televisions have not been upgraded.

They started playing western themed holiday music today, and the store features display windows with holiday items, as well as lots of holiday merchandise, but still no decorations up.

Glad to hear you're very happy there. I've always wanted to stay at the VWL but the rates have always just been a little too high so we end up at SSR which I really do like but I love the WL theme and it's also a different location. I was thrilled to snag a studio for an unusually low rate for a few nights in January so I'm really looking forward to our stay there.

Do you know if all of the rooms have been refurbished at the VWL? Do you have any recommendations for a "quiet" room there? I've been reading on the boards that seem to favor the lake side for the quieter rooms? I'd definitely prefer not to face the bus area. What kind of room are you in, 1 bd, 2 bd, studio, etc? Would love to see photos. Is it a real long walk to the boat dock?

So happy you "found" WLV.

Funny I bought there....but stayed everywhere else 1st...to try it.

When we finally went last month.....It was heaven.....DH ranted for 10 minutes how great the place is and WHY don't I always stay here;)

Enjoy it is a magical place:goodvibes
