VWL - WiFi?

Does anyone know if the VWL has wireless internet access?

I'm bringing my PDA, an would love to do the early check in with Southwest using it for our return flight.

Our villa was in a hot-spot last week, but I opted to use the LAN-based broadband access since I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to configure a profile for my wireless adapter. There were instructions for using the LAN-based connection in the room, but not the wireless.

Just curious, but did the resort actually have info posted about WiFi, or did you just pick up an SSID broadcast on your adapter? A few months ago there was a post here about someone who brought their own wireless AP to BWV and was able to hook it into the broadband service.

I don't recall WL being on the list for hot-spots, but I haven't been following too closely.

With authentication disabled, an AP in someone's guest room could have provided free access to a handful of neighbors.

I was going off of the fact that the status lights on my card indicated that it was picking up a signal. It may have been a "WDW use only" network for all I know. My card is configured to only associate with our corporate wireless network and I don't have the info on how to set up a "public" profile for it. The resort had no info posted on WiFi access in the room, only the LAN connection (which appeared to be a cable modem).

WDW now offers Wi-Fi (high speed wireless Internet access) in the public areas of its convention hotels. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled laptop computer or PDA to access the Internet from designated areas of each resort. Smart City is the provider and bills the guest using a secure credit card transaction via an on-screen Internet connection. Requires a wireless interface card (WIC), available for purchase in the resort's business center. $4.99 per hour or $9.95 for a 24-hour period.
