looking into purchasing into DVC - i'm debating between these two resorts - what are the pros/cons of each?

VWL vs. BWV

BWV has Grand Villas, VWL does not

VWL is a perference location if your primary destination is MK
BWV is better if your focus would be at EPCOT and/or MGM

BWV has the potential of a Boardwalk view
VWL has the potential of a dumpster view

OK, I said only the easy ones, someone else take the ball & run.

Buy both ;)

Well actually I own at VWL and we really like it there. All the resorts offer something great. However, if given the choice between the two I would say BWV. As the OP stated, there is the option of grand villas, there is close proximity to two parks, plenty of dining options, and there is nighttime entertainment right at the resort on the Boardwalk :)

That being said, you really need to think of what is most important to you. Do you like the theming of one over the other? Would you rather be close to MGM/Epcot or MK? Do you want to be somewhat secluded or in the middle of the action? Everyone can pitch in their opinions but your preferences are the only ones that matter! :teeth:

BWV has the option of standard view rooms, which cost less points than the preferred view rooms. BWV preferred view rooms cost the same as the rooms at VWL. There is only one category of rooms at VWL.

Also, BWV has a special category of preferred view for rooms with a view of the Boardwalk. These rooms are very popular and can now be "guaranteed" when you make your reservation (subject to availability).

You'll need the 11 month booking indow to be assured of getting either a standard view or a Boardwalk view. Both of these are occasionally available at the 7 month window and there have been reports of successfully using the waitlist process to get these room categories, but that is the exception to the "rule".

IMHO, you will be happy no matter which (VWL or BWV) you choose - they are both wonderful places to stay.

Best wishes

Although there are outside activities in the boardwalk area, I prefer to rent boats at the WL area. I love that lake and the surrounding woods. So, we own at both places, more at the BWV because of the standard view points, it seemed like the better buy to us.

do you like to party? then definitely BWV

if you like a more relaxed type then VWL.

I love VWL - it has one of the most beautiful lobbies around and you can be easy entertainned here without going to the parks - you can easily walk, bike, boat or bus over to FW for even more stuff to do.

however if you are going to spend the majority of your time at either Epcot or Studios - then definitely go with BWV.

I also own a small contract at both - I love to go in early December and both are really, really hard to get unless you own there.

my main membership is OKW - that has was not on your list.....
