I'm doing the "I'm 2 Days Away" dance (:woohoo: :yay: )!!! So excited to stay at VWL for the first time. :cloud9:

For those who have stayed there before, are there any "must do" activities? Our son is 12 and our daughter is 6, so if there are any kids activities at WL or close by, I'd love to hear about them. We've never stayed over in that area (mostly at the values and OKW), so I'm not even sure what's over that way other than MK and the Contemporary.

In advance, thanks for your thoughts and comments. Since we'll have about 3 days to fill, I'm looking for some new things to do!

You should look into the activities at Fort Wilderness. You can walk the nature trail over, or take a boat to get there.

We like to rent bikes at VWL and ride to FW. You can visit the horse stables. Then we ride around the campsites. People are very friendly over there!

In the evening, if it's not too hot, go to the Campfire at FW. You sing songs, they sell stuff to make s'mores, Chip and Dale visit and then there's a movie.

PS. People have commented that the menu has been changed, but we've always enjoyed the buffet at Trail's End.

Take in the Wonders of the Lodge Tour if you have time. It starts at 9am and lasts about 45 mins. Just show up in the main lobby and look for the Ranger. If you do this tour Wed-Sat, Ranger Stan is your man. Enjoy a hoop hollerin meal at WCC.

Have Fun!

If you have never visited WL, there is a lot of great exploring to be done at that resort. Maybe do the tour first then explore. We love to visit the different 'nooks and crannies' to just sit and relax. Between the fireplaces and the balconies, my idea of a good time (I don't get out much ;) ). Get the list of hidden Mickeys from the front desk and try to find them.

At 9:35 PM (if I remember correctly) the Electric Water Parade goes by at the beach. Grab yourself a lounge and enjoy the show.

We enjoy taking the launch over to the Contemporary and riding the monorail around the world.

I kind of like that DVC resort ;) .

PS JimmyTammy, I was just noticing your sig. It is so funny watching the annual visits starting our once a year for several years. Then it starts increasing in frequency. It cuts off, but I can imagine what the last 3 years look like:

2006 VWL
2006 VWL
2006 VWL
2007 VWL

(Mine looks the same  )

No one has mentioned the hidden mickey hunt. Ask for the list at customer services - when you check in you can also ask about being Flag Family.

We are leaving Sunday for 5 nights at VWL. We plan on riding bikes to FW to check out all the camp sites. We try to camp there at least once a year and love the place. We may catch a movie one night. If you go to the camping forum you can see the August movie schedule. One day we are going to the Poly to swim and eat at Kona Cafe. But mostly we will be hanging out by the pool enjoying the resort. :cool1: Have a great time!!!!

You have a great time too, LargoLori!

Thanks, everyone, for the great suggestions! For those traveling soon, I hope you have a wonderful time!:goodvibes

Disney has a ton to do, but if you ever run out (yea, right :rotfl:) geocaching is a ton of fun. It's a sort of a treasure hunt using a GPS unit. Although Disney doesn't permit "caches", the GC community has created their own version which involves finding/photographing landmarks - some pretty far fetched ones too ;) I think WL is the perfect location for this. Check out geocaching.com
