We will be at VWL the first week of February. Are all the studios facing the parking lot? (even numbered rooms) I know that there are generally trees blocking the view, but we are light sleepers and would prefer a lagoon side for the quiet. (odd numbered rooms). Anyone familiar enough to make a suggestion for a 50+ couple seeking quiet, romantic room for a few days/nights? Thanks. Oh, we are not FIRM on VWL if you have another suggestion - BC BW SS OKW???

There are studios on both sides of VWL. But actually, I think you'll find both sides are quite peaceful and quiet. If you get the lake side end nearest WL, there actually is a pretty good chance you'll get noise from the small pool there.

If peace and quiet are your goal, I think VWL is a good bet. DW and I find it quite romantic, as well. OKW, by all accounts, also fits this description.

We just returned from a studio room at VWL, yes it faced the parking lot, but because of the trees you couldn't see it. Just GF in the distance. It was room 5526, top floor, dormer style, wonderfully quiet, never heard anything but the birds.

Thanks Hollymom & Granny for the input! I wanted to at least try and request a specific room #/#'s and this helps.

The boat that goes to MK & FW, how often does it run? Is it possible to time it so you are on the boat headed to/from MK and can see the fireworks? I read a post somewhere about a family who said that was a terrific WDW moment and thought it might be fun to 'recreate' during our stay.

Also, as 50+ do you think we would enjoy the Hoop-dee-doo and/or the carriage ride at FW?

Any other suggestions (besides a lovely dinner at Artist Point) for our 3 nights there? :scratching:

Well, 2ofUs, we are 60+ and have enjoyed Hoop-de-Doo on and off for the last 30 years that we have been going to WDW. Went 2 years ago and had a great time. Haven't done the carriage ride yet, but we definitely plan to do so sometime in the future.

Noticed you stayed in Feb. How was it? Did you utilize babysitting? If so, how does it work? Was studio big enough for family of 4?

I had a studio on the end, opposite of the dumpster view. It was totally quiet. The only disadvantage was it was a loooooong hike to the elevator.

The DH and I were talking about this just last night---we've stayed at WL twice, once w/a pool/lake/geyser view and once w/a woods/parking lot view---we both agree that the view is not what you see out the window/balcony, but what you see in the lobby of both the lodge and villas....both of the lobby areas are beautiful, so don't spend too much time looking out the windows/patio door---go to the lobby of either one and soak it up!

Actually, it was just 2 adults in our late 50's so, no we did not have occassion to utilize the babysitting service. I have heard of others who rave about it though.

Our studio was on the lagoon side very close to the elevators. But elevator noise is sheltered from all rooms by the way it is laid-out.

The size of the studio was adequate for us, but I don't know how comfortable you would be with kids. If they are very small it might be okay, but otherwise it would be tight. The ceiling is angled down in areas and I got a good head bonk one day when I raised up too quickly from digging in my suitcase. The tub & toilet are seperated from the double sinks which is good. However the kitchenette sink is very small as it the fridge. There is a toaster and coffeemaker plus plastic plates/cups/utensils.

Our view was lovely and it was nice awakening to the sound of birds outdoors. I always took my coffee out onto the patio area and watched the boats gliding around. Not much else to see, but enough for me anyway.

We always rent a vehicle when at WDW as it is easier for us, but I didn't see any problems with the buses here. All in all our visit was quite nice and I would recommend VWL as a peaceful paradise at WDW.

Just wanted to add that you might want to request Upper Floor. When we were there, we thought that maybe some of the Ground Floor units near the walkways might be a bit more noisy. The whole resort is very quiet though... love hearing the frogs and crickets at night. :)

Also I wouldn't really recommend trying to request a specific room#... more general requests tend to work better. Good luck!
