Just got home from a wonderful stay at VWL. We had a dedicated studio, 1516. It was right around the corner from the elevators, and two doors down from the laundry room. There was only one room next to us. I have to say of all the DVC stays, and all of the hotels I have ever stayed in, this was the quietest room ever! We really loved this room.
Went to Chef Mickey's for the first time since it left downtown and became a buffet
. I really don't like buffets due to the dirty little (and big) hands that touch all of the spoons, etc. However, we had one of the first reservations of the night, and the food was really, really good. DS (21 months) LOVED the characters. We will definately do this again. (With the first dinner time reservation again.)
Went to Epcot and Animal Kingdom one day, and Magic Kingdom and MGM (sorry, I don't like the name Hollywood Studios) another. The lines were very short and we pretty much walked onto everything. The longest wait was 20 minutes. There were even fast passes for Soarin' left after lunch time!
The weather was cloudy, but warm. We had a few rain showers, but they never lasted too long. The sun was in and out, mostly out, but at home it's been in the 20's and snowing, so we can't complain!
Ate at the Coral Reef, had a tankside table. The kids and I really love it here, and I like the shrimp penne pasta and chocolate wave for dessert.
Booked our flights home for Saturday, But I should have booked for Friday since we wouldn't have gotten out due to the storm in the NE and would have had to stay until Monday! Oh well!
We enjoyed this stay at VWL much more than the last two. I think it may have to do with the time of year too. The last two stays were in April, and the pools were so crowded with people from the campground and MK that we vowed we wouldn't be back for a while. Fast forward 3 years and we tried it again, this time in Feb. The villa pool was very quiet and we enjoyed it alot. The lodge pool however was very crowded, but we just stayed away.
My favorite part of any DVC resort is the lobby area in the VWL building. It is so relaxing and quiet. I rocked the baby to sleep a few times, read, played checkers, and just sat there soaking up the theming.
