VWL ROCK!! Quick Review – just back!

Hi!! We just returned from our best Disney vacation yet!! We stayed at VWL for the first time (our home resort). I loved this resort even more then the Grand Floridian (never thought that would happen). We stayed in a one bedroom for most of the trip! The trek from the elevator to our room was a little long but nothing to complain about. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and our 1 ½ dd loved chasing birds and bunnies around!! The weather was awesome and crowds were light!

A Couple quick tips:

Toy Story Mania – this was the one ride me and DH wanted to ride. We got to HS @ 11:30 and the wait was already 60 min. and all the fast passes were gone for that day. So if you want to ride this Get there early!! And this was on a Wednesday – so can’t imagine weekend!

Whispering Canyon - OK – I have been dying to try this place out! We were able to get a table on our last night with no ADR (60 minute wait) but we went down early knowing there would be a wait. I was VERY disappointed in this place  I hate to complain – this place has been getting a bad rap lately but I’m gonna have to jump on the ban wagon! Not only did NO fun happen at or any where near our table – the wait staff seemed annoyed when people would ask for ketchup and straws and such! A couple of times I saw young kids ask for ketchup and the waiter/waiters looked annoyed to have to join in the fun!! They would quickly scream ketchup and walk away! IMO don’t waste your time or money here – spend it on a charter meal!!

Crystal Palace – This place was AWESOME!! Good food, service and GREAT character interaction! LOVED it!! DD loved piglet and pooh!! Will go back soon!

Biergarten in Germany – Lots of fun!! Good entertainment and GREAT food – but I love German food so I was in heaven!! I thought they had good choices even for the picker eater (my DH ) We stayed to watch the band 3 X’s

Well that is about it!! LOVED it!!

Glad you had a great time! Thanks for sharing!! We were going to try WC with Dh, DS and the inlaws, since we thought it would be fun to trick FIL and DS with the antics. However I'm glad we changed it to LTT (to stay in the parks).

We love CP as well...love pooh and the gang!! The food there is great as well.

Unfortunately, I think Whispering Canyon is hit or miss. But it shouldn't be everyone that goes there should rave about their server because even though their food is good (we always eat off the menu not the skillet) the whole reason for going to Whispering Canyon is for the atmosphere.

Love Crystal Palace my husband and I even it there when we go alone because the food is so good.

Glad you had a great vacation and it's good to hear about the VWL. That is the only one (except BLT) that we haven't stayed at yet. Although we have stayed at the Fort and loved it.

Glad to hear you had a great vacation! I think VWL is an awesome resort for little ones. My 2 spent hours running on the little beach and playing in the sand when we were there in Dec.

They also had cookie decorating which was a hit. We did Whispering Canyon a few years ago and it was fun, but it sounds like some of the fun has been taken out of it.

WCC, fun is relative to what you want and guests complained about having to listen to the fun, night after night.

Some guests unlike DISers really do use their resort restaurants for more than one meal. At WL you have the counter service and Artist Pointe which is not something a family is going to do often.

So when you think about being at the resort and eating at WCC often you can see where the fun might get old for some.

If you ever get to stay when it is decorated for Christmas....you will fall in love all over again....ahem....and purchase more points

If you try WCC again.....ask at checkin for a "rowdy" server.

Wow that is strange.

We were there the second week of December for 7 days and although we missed our reservation at the resturant due to little one being sick. Every night we were by the place it was just crazy with all the activities going on throughout the resturant.

Maybe you caught a bad night but there sure seemed to be alot going on while we were there. The Staff and servers were getting everyone in on the action.

We just came back from our 1st VWL on Fri and agree, it was fabulous. the weather was perfect. I am soooooo looking forward to our next trip Home. We stayed in a dedicated 2 bdrm on the 5th floor with a lake view. We could even see Wishes from up there.
WCC was okay. Dont know if my MIL enjoyed it much. She kept commenting on how loud it was.

We did do 50's prime time and we love that place!! Will go back for sure!! Maybe we just got a bad night a WCC, but unfortanaly there are ALOT more places to try and I won't be going back there! IMO it is so important to live up to expectations when there is so much competition!!

We are going to AKL in May - can't wait for that !!

Yeah, another person who had a great time at VWL! We're not fans of WC, but they did keep us well supplied in bacon the one time we went for breakfast, that made DGC very happy!

Glad you had a fabulous time. I have never stayed at VWL but plan on it someday. I know I am missing a beautiful resort and vacation experience.

I am hoping the things mentioned on this thread about WCC are not happening all the time at that dining location. We are going to be there in March and really hoping to have a fun and outrageous time. I will keep my fingers crossed and pixie dust close by!!!
