I don't want to get into the argument of the ethics of whether you can use the refillable mugs multiple trips, etc.; but can someone who has been to VWL lately tell me if the current mugs have changed from last June? The ones we got then were tan with the WL logo on side and a green top.

Sounds like the ones you have are the same as the ones they're still selling.

Don't feel bad there have been people on this site that think the mugs are for a life-time and can be used at any resort. You are a long way from that point, but your question would certainly leaves one to believe that you plan on using them for another trip!!This is one of the classic things you see on this site and is what I call the "Lifetime Refillable Mugs". It is just one of thousands of ways people making trips to WDW try to beat the system. When they started out with this idea they were for your one stay at one resort at WDW. What they do now is another question-if you want to honest ask when you arrive-tell them you bought your mug the last time you were there.:o

I will tell you what I will do. I plan on taking the mugs we got last June. On the first day, I will ask them if it is okay to use them this trip. If they say yes, then I'll use them. If they say no, I'll buy new ones. Does that sound like a good plan?

WL/VWL has in my opinion the best and mean the best mug on property - the ones at OKW and the Polyn are horrible.....

WL mugs were mean to last and I love mind -

Pa@okw95 - when I first brought my mugs - they were for the lifetime - WDW changed is policy - I did not change mind - so sorry if you are offended....

but when someone even puts it on the sign above the mugs that is sold here are for your entire lifetime - then a few years later changes their minds - who is at fault????

I also love my VWL mugs. They are the best !!

I know that isn't the OP question, but wanted to second the vote on them being the best.

We were at VWL last week.

The mugs they were selling were tan with dark green tops with a swivel closure on the lid. They had a narrower base, like a travel mug.

I also saw people using the older style refillable mug, same colors, but the same diameter all the way down, wider, with a top that just had an indented hole, and no swivel closure.

(hope you can tell what I am talking about from my description!)

As far as I could tell, both mugs were being filled without problem at Roaring Forks.

Spicecat-when they first started the mug program they were just for the stay, now a few places decided to change that, i don't think they were thinking too well when they did that especially with us DVC people who are now members of WLV. Long before you bought your mugs there was no such arrangement and people used them for what they thought would be a lifetime when they were not. I have seen people take the regular cups that they give you at food courts out of their bags to use them for another meal then put them back to use again. Now that is a program, forget the mugs, just soda cups. I have seen people take 50 or so napkins out of a napkin holder, I have yet to see anyone walk out with toilet paper yet from a bathroom, but I am sure that has happened. If you stay on these boards as long as I have you will read a lot that will open your eyes about people and what they do at WDW. I have been on these boards from the start I think it was 96 or 97, it is entertaining to read about people and their ideas.

Same mug we have and we use ours every trip down we take a mug with us from every resort that way when we go visiting we just take the mug and fill it up.

Can you refill the mug yourself at Roaring Forks? That is the one downside to BCV. The wait is forever ar Beaches n Cream.

Is there a place for you to just go up and fill up your mug?

We don't buy them on the cruise because we don't like having to go to a CM at the bar to fill them up. Then leave a 'tip' which adds to the cost of the soda. We just go without.

If we could buy mugs and then just fill them up ourselves anytime we wanted, that would be great!

I saw everyone just going up to the pop and coffee dispensers (they are in the main dining area, after the cashiers) and fill their mugs. You do it yourself.

No - you are talking about 2 different programs - they have always had mugs true,

but when they first came out with the refillable mug - it was for a lifetime and believe me it was printed over the sign where you picked them up at DL (it was Dixie landing not POR then) - they never (until recently) had them at OKW.

of course I still love my old DL - much, much better than the new ones - they don't last at all.

WL definitely had the same sign - but you had to ask for one at the cashier. I brought one of the old ones. I each time I visit (not always stay) I get a new one - I really love these things. I even give them as presents - it is really a great mug.

but WDW DID change their policy.....

I have no idea what was discussed here - I only know what the sign say it was for lifetime - and yes it was on the sign

I love the mugs at VWL:D
I buy new ones every trip we stay there...best souvie for the money.
I noticed the ones this year had a better grip area on the handle.

I don't like the ones at other resorts (or where you have to go to fill them)

We bought our first WL mugs the first year it was open. They were advertised as reusable any time you stay at WL. They have lasted a long, long time.

Just think how well the "FREE LIFETIME REFILLS" has worked.
All those folks who when deciding where to spend ther vacation dollars. . . Pa: "We'll gee Ma, look if we go back to WDW , we'll save alota moolah with them thar free refills". Ma: "Yessiree Pa your right! Okay kids, pack up those EARS we're off to see Mickey"
