I have booked our first stay at VWL for latter january in a 2br. I was hoping I could get some info on what to expect from the room and resort ahead of time so I could do some planning. Are the 2brs in a particular area? Should I ask for an area when we get there? Is it possible to swim that time of year? Are there onsite activities that are must-dos? Really as a first timer, any advice and info would be greatly appreciated. We will hit the parks but see this as a more relaxing trip.

It's been several years since we've been back to VWL (we've used those points to stay longer at BWV recently), but fwir, the 2BRs weren't in any specific areas.

We visited in January, typically, and although we didn't swim, our guests generally have. The pools are heated, even if the air is not. :)

We were really using VWL as a launching point for MK, the times we've stayed there, so generally didn't get involved in on-site activities, so I can't help there.

2BRs overlooking the pool area (more or less) have been my favorites. By and large, however, there are no awful views. As for activities:
- there is a bike and boat rental shop sitting on the lake directly behind the Hidden Springs pool.
- there is a paved walking/biking trail that connects WL and FW (it starts next to the WL bus stop), but if you walk past the bike rental shop, there is a nature trail (unpaved) that is great for walks or runs, and there are a couple of small trails leading off of that main trail that connect to the main paved one.
- kids will enjoy the main pool since it has a slide, and there is a geyser that goes off hourly near there. Also for kids, there is Cubs' Den located just inside the side entrance to the main lodge as you walk from the Villas.
- the boats are a wonderful alternative to busing or driving to MK, though they can get crowded, especially when MK closes.
- you can ask for a Hidden Mickey sheet at the front desk
- finally, just walk around and explore the grounds and buildings--lots of neat things to see, or you can play checkers in the small lobby of the Villas building.

Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tips so far, I am not sure what a dedicated 2 bedroom is, I will have to call back and find out what it is that I have. Any other advice would be very welcome,
thanks all
Drew

2 bedroom villas are either lock-offs or dedicated. Lock-offs are a 1 bedroom villa plus a studio, with a door between them that you can leave open if you wish, allowing you to pass between them without going into the hall. Dedicated 2 bedroom villas don't have the door, and the passage between the living area and the second bedroom may be positioned differently, allowing for better placement of furniture and/or traffic flow.

A dedicated 2BR means the unit is one complete suite. A lock-off means that the unit is a 1BR suite that has a door opening to a studio, and the door can be locked to turn them into two separate units or left unlocked to create a 2BR. :)
