I will probably buy 350 points - what's the best size for resale with this resort - since I may want to sell off points as I get older (I am 39 now).

If you want to buy 350 points at one resort through resale, I'd probably look for two contracts to add up to that amount (or close to it) and really try to get the same UY month for both of them. So I'd look at a 200 and 150 point contract.

If you were buying from Disney, you can buy more small contracts and all with the same UY, but you will pay a higher price per point. If your plan really is to sell off parts of the contract, working directly through Disney may well be your best bet. The amount of cost difference might be worth it to you.

Good luck in your purchase process. You have great taste in vacation resorts! :)

To clarify: You cannot split up a contract at a later date and sell part of it. You can only resell a full contract amount. That is why Granny is recommending purchasing at least two contracts totalling 350 points.

Deb...thanks for clarifying. I think my wording might have suggested that one can sell off part of a contract, which cannot be done.

I bought 175 and 75 points for now at VWL. I figured that's enough for now at least at the older resorts. I will get another 250 when or if they ever build something off the monorail. I doubt there will be a problem getting a 1 bedroom at the 7 month window for AKV so I am going to pass notwithstanding everyone's excitement.

Congratulations! I'm assuming you bought through Disney since you don't mention ROFR? That's a great start for you and will for a lot of nice vacations. And splitting the contract like that will make things better for you down the road. I wish I had split my contract but that advice wasn't common when I bought.

On the other hand, I'm planning on letting it expire and not selling it anyway. :)
