Hi there!

I wondered if someone could tell me if the VWL offers lake views? If not, what types of views are offered for a VWL studio room?

Thanks!

I asked for a lake View, but instead faced a wall of trees. It was better than facing the parking lot.

I would ask for a room that is not too far away. The main hallway is very long and we were assigned the next to last room. That was a long walk every night. Even with the long walk, we all had a great time.

I had a room once that was in the atrium area close to the elevator. If you looked through the trees you could see the lake.

We had a "lake view" in February for 2 days (4143 I think??), and a "closer to the elevator" room for 5 days, also in February. With a 2 kids, the closer to the elevator option was better.

I've actually been studying the layout I found online (sorry, have no idea where) and a picture of the villas to try and find a dedicated 2BR with a lake view -- I've come to the conclusion that there aren't any.

In a studio or 1BR, I think if you request a pool view on a high floor, you'd probably be able to see the lake. Once you get past the pool, it looks to me like you wouldn't be able to see much through the trees. The studio numbers that show a lake view are 2531, 3531, 4531, 2539, 3539, 4539, 3505, 4505, 5521. Hope this helps. :goodvibes

Higher floor rooms tend to afford a shot at seeing the lake, albeit through trees. As another poster said, I would ask for a room to view the pool, up high, say the 4th floor. This should get you a better view. But I wouldnt sweat it too much. VWL are surrounded by tall pines, so most all rooms are going to be viewing these.

DH & I were at VWL for one night just a few weeks ago. We were on the third floor at the very end of the hall with a lovely dumpster view! We laughed about it! We were just passing through after a few days at Vero Beach so it was fine for one night. If we had been staying a longer length of time, I would not have been happy though. And to be fair, we did arrive at 8 am and they put us right into the studio.

This is from a top floor dedicated 2 bdrm almost at the end of the hall (Rm #5549). Glimpses of the lake though the trees! Beautiful!

Your picture is beautiful! Was that taken last Feb?
Pretty soon, we won't be able to see any of the lake as the trees continue to grow!

We were in room 4511, a dedicated 2BR, last fall and had a wonderful lake view through a few trees. We were able to see alot of the evening water parade, too.

Another nice thing, it was right around the corner from the elevator!

Sure hope to get this room again.

Hope this helps! Jennie

I think we stayed in this room before (or close to it)

There are rooms on the lake side of the building where it's possible to see the water through some trees. There are no un-obstructed lake views though. Still, for privacy's sake, more than for lake views, I always request the lake side.

Have a great trip!

At one time, the trees were thicker. But a hurricane came through(sorry, I cant remember the name) a few3-4yrs back that cleared some out. Before, the lake wasnt as visible as it is now.

I remember! There were actually 2 or 3 that hit the Orlando area that year. I think one was Charlie. It was right around the time that SSR was finishing construction on some buildings. A CM over there told us that the little trees (I think near Congress Park) had been planted three times. Once for the original planting and twice because the hurricanes had ripped them out of the ground!

Staying at VWL for the first time this Dec...I am also at a loss to know what area to request. A view is more important to us then a short walk as we will only have a 9 month old. Any room tips?

I'm going to be staying at VWL for the first time and was wondering about the views available. Someone here on the boards told me to try asking for a lake/water view because they said they were able to see the water parade every night. Just wondering if this is true.

I'm going to be requesting a 2BR. Is it possible to have a 2BR with a lake/water view and be close to the elevators? Or will I have to pick one over the other?

In the many times that I have made ressies(mostly for others) at VWL - MS when I would request a Lake view would tell me there are ONLY obstructed views of the lake - so I usually requested pool view - highest floor available - no one has ever reported back to say they hated or loved this or what they actually ended up with - BUT I think if it were terrible I would of heard about that.;)

Your room sounds perfect! It has everything I want. I wonder which would be better. Asking for Room 4511 specifically when I make my reservation (I know there's no guarantee especially at 7 months out) or requesting an upper floor, dedicated 2BR, with lake view and just hope I get that room or one similar to it when I check in. I'm going in October which I hope will be to my advantage because its during the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT and many DVC'ers like to stay at BCV or BWV during that time.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
