DVC member site has eliminated VWL as an entity and the reservation section and the Resort Availability Tool now shows it as Boulder Ridge Villas. Possibly this portends that Copper Creek will soon appear for sale.

The last DisneyFiles mag had stated that the name transition would begin on October 25.

I think there is a significant number of people that will always refer to it as VWL.

And as Tim indicated, October 25 had been announced by Disney as the start date of the "re-imagining". :(

.........

As I have stated elsewhere, Disney may call it what they wish, but it has been and always shall be V-W-L. . .to me. . .

Don't doubt either of you, but we all still have to know/remember the Boulder Ridge name to book if we want to stay there. :),

We noticed that our March 2017 reservation on MDE has changed to the new name of Boulder Ridge Villas. We checked at the resort this morning and none of the signs have changed to the new name as yet.

I expect when the new resort goes on sell it will be easier for me to remember the BRV name because they are both Disney Vacation Club Villas at Wilderness Lodge. It could get really confusing when talking to people that have not been around as long as the current owners of VWL when you try to explain that only one of the DVC resorts are Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

I wonder what this does to our deeds and legal filings? We just passed ROFR selling one of our VWL contracts.

Absolutely nothing at all. The legal name of the condominium association will continue to be the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. The only difference is that the old VWL will be doing business as Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

This situation is similar to Old Key West. Its DBA is Old Key West, but the legal name of the condominium association is, and always has been, Disney Vacation Club at Walt Disney World Resort.

Like this - now let's keep an eye out for existing contract games.

We are also VWL owners. Do NOT try to make us pay for the other association. We have a property description, and do NOT intend to pay for a WDW expansion. That would be YOUR nickle.

Point noted. We shall seek that name out when making online reservation, but when talking to an actual CM, it will be "classic VWL, please, or as you may need to call it, BRV." ;)

We have not begun to sell any points, but sadly, these will be the first to go because of the totally changed atmosphere at the resort. VWL was our absolute first love based on the ambiance at the resort. A CM once assured me there will be "wilderness" renewed at the property. I hope so, and we'll wait to see before selling. We still use all of our points.

VWL owners will not pay the construction costs for any of the new amenities. However, they will pay a share of the maintenance for those, as will the new owners of Copper Creek and the Wilderness Lodge.

I would expect that boulder dues should decrease for some shared line items like front desk, security, transportation since the same services will be offered but paid for by more owners. I get the feeling that dues won't decrease but since we don't know how they keep track of who pays what, we can only wait and see.

Carol...we absolutely agree with you. There are just some of us who don't see transitioning from "wilderness" to "boulders" as a positive turn of events with our resort.

We do see some DISBoard newbie issues cropping up as we keep talking about VWL and they are trying to figure out what that means. We may want to keep VWL in the abbreviations list for a while. :)

Personally? Disney may name my resort anything it likes :).

What they may NOT do is to alter my property description, or make me pay for work THEY chose to do.

So - let's see what happens. WATCH the 2017 dues, by line item.

Sadly we just sold one of our two VWL contracts. I can't bear to sell all of them. Hoping the love is still there after next year's stay. OT, we're still on in January right? :)
