VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.0) updated 21 June 2023

Good morning from Boulder Ridge! We checked in last night around 2am. I’m a zombie today. While we were at the airport waiting for our flight I got our room ready text. I googled the room number to see if I could find a photo of the view but it was better than I imagined. We got the funky shaped 2 bedroom room off the atrium!!! It’s incredible. I’ll be taking all the photos and videos because these rooms are like unicorns. If you have questions about the room just ask, I’ll be here all week. ☺️The family is still asleep so all I have photos of is the view for now. Happy Saturday groupies! View attachment 766572
I would really like to see a walkthrough of this.

We got that same room once on our 2nd DVC trip and it confirmed for us we had made a good choice becoming DVCers
Enjoy the room, enjoy the Lodge, enjoy your trip!

Hey All

Its been a topsy turvy week around these parts. My 91 yr old Dad got stung by 40-50 Yellowjackets Monday at his house. He and my uncle and SIL were tearing out a deck to prep to build a screen in porch, and Dad went to reach in a toolbox of one of our dump trucks and they swarmed him. He is pretty thin but they got him on one kneecap at least 15 times to the point you cant see the kneecap. I counted 15 stings on his right forearm, plus many on various parts of his legs and waistline. He went into anaphylactic shock after being fine for about 30 mins. We got him by ambo to the ER, his breathing was so shallow we didnt think he was going to make it. Paramedics tended to him quickly and got him stabilized. After being in the ER for 8 hours he came home, feeling like a million bucks. We told him be careful, that's the adrenaline from the epiphendrine(SP) kicking in. We may as well have painted a big S on his chest for Superman.

So the next day much to all our heeded warnings, he went back to work, it was cool outside and he was tearing it up for 3 hrs until the recurring aftershock happened around lunch. Apparently that's common. So after resting he admitted he needed to return to ER, breathing was again shallow, but manageable. So around 5 we called EMT again, they got him to ER, and ended up keeping him all night and until 2 pm the next day. Comes home, realizing, I need to slow down.

An attending nurse wrapped his forearm where all his IV etc was located. He wrapped it super tight, and even though my daughter heard the nurse say take it off after 30 mins, he left it on all night. Kristian told him to be sure to remove it, but he left it on all night, swole his arm and hand and now another trip to the ER. This time he drove himself(Much to our delight as he and Mom weren't going to let us know what was going on), I just happened to catch him as they were headed out the door. Hopefully today is smoother and he takes it easy.

Life is fragile, hug your loved ones, tell them you love them, make peace with those you are estranged from, and make peace with yourselves. Im lucky to still have my folks, and my relationship is and always will be strong. But I can do better by all, including myself.

And all this I share as I drink my coffee from my WL mug and listen to Spotify WL music.

So I close it out to say to you folks, you are family, and I dont say it often enough, thank you for including me in our little band here, thank you for caring about me and all the folks here. I love you folks!

Jimmy
So happy to hear your dad is doing okay now. How scary that must have been for you and your family. Life is, indeed, tenuous and if we're fortunate, we keep that in mind every day. Thanks for letting us know because, yes, we are family after all. :grouphug:

Nope, can confirm no trail here. I’ve never done the trail before so there may be an alternate route? Happy to checkout another path if so, but the one from the cabins and from Boulder Ridge leads here.
Good Morning!
Thats a bummer:(
My only other thought, is it possible they opened the trail back up just beyond the bus area? This is the one we used to take to FW, about a mile long trail, maybe it was paved?

That's the old nature trail that used to head toward FW from the bike and boat rental building. That was closed when they started construction on Copper Creek. The path that might be open begins near the bus loading zone. From the bus area, walk away from the Lodge down the sidewalk in the direction from which the buses arrive. You'll cross over a street that leads to the loading dock for linens and such, and then a path leads off to your left after you cross. It's paved and was once a bike/walking path to FW. That would be the one to check. ;)

I will check that one out later today! I think I found a new favorite morning past time though. Sneaking out with a cup of coffee while everyone is still asleep for a nice walk along the trees and nature was so peaceful.

Oh, wow. I've never walked down to the end, or the pathway along the lake.

Am I alone in feeling like this abrupt end of the walkway is something the design teams of the past would never have left out there? It's painful just to look at. They could have done more so that it wouldn't feel like they intentionally caged off the path.

I have never even been on that pathway but have seen vlogger's videos about them, it's a lovely pathway. I would love for them to re-open it some day.
