We are staying for one night at VWL before moving to BCV. Our flight arrives MCO at 4pm. We are on the deluxe dinner plan. We'd like to have a nice dinner somewhere with easy access by Disney transportation. What are the options? We will not go into the parks that night.

You could stay right there (VWL), and try Artist Point (great Salmon), or take the boat to the Floridian and do Citricos. Enjoy!

If you go to the GF I would recommend Narcosee's. Or take the boat to the Contemporary and eat at the California Grill.:cool2:

We are trying Artist Point tomorrow night for the first time. I will post how I like it here if I remember. :)

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I am glad to find out about the boat ride to various resorts. I am not sure if we will be in shape to visit these Signature Restaurants right after our flight. What's the dress code like for these restaurants?

Any suggestions for a casual TS restaurants that we can walk in with our travel attire?

Try Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL or Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary subject to availability.

Concourse steak house at the Contemporary, if it hasn't closed by the time of your trip.

Artist Point if you don't want to travel at all or California Grill if you do. Both accept you in jeans and tshirts as long as they aren't torn, etc.

All great choices. Given your travel situation, the fact it's on property and that Artist Point is our favorite, that would be my vote as well. Even without transportation issues, I'd still put it number one. Her would be my order for signature places for Dinner.

  1. Artist Point
  2. California Grill
  3. Narcossee's
  4. Citrico's
I'd also add Ohana, Kona Cafe, Whispering Canyon and Concourse Grill in no particularly order as non signature very good choices.

All of the signatures are resort casual which normally means collared shirts and no jeans or shorts but varies with who you talk to. A polo and dockers seems perfect to me as that's about as dressed up as I get on vacation without some other event like an anniversary.

Another suggestion for Artist Point! My DH loved the Buffalo Steak; he said it was more tender than most beef steaks! :thumbsup2
BTW, you can wear jeans; a collared "golf-type" shirt for men and a nice tee or blouse for women. I've never noticed them checking shoes, although DH did wear his "nice" sneakers the last time we went to AP. :rotfl2:

Keep in mind that the boats do not run directly to the Grand Floridian or Polynesian resorts. You would have to go to MK or the Contemporary and hop on a monorail.

I think given your timing, Artist Point will work great for you! :)

They will generally not turn you away but jeans are technically outside the dress code.

I also wanted to add my vote for Artist's Point. The buffalo was fantastic, and it's a nice, quiet atmosphere if you're looking to unwind after a long flight. If you're looking for something a little more casual and don't mind a bit of noise, Whispering Canyon is also a lot of fun and a great way to start off your trip in the "Disney spirit." Have fun whatever you decide! :)

here is the dress code from the Deluxe Dining Plan Paperwork.

"Men: Dress slacks, jeans, trousers, or dress shorts, short or long-sleeved shirt with a collar or t-shirt required, Jackets are optional.

Ladies: Jeans, skirt, or dress shorts with blouse, sweater or t-shirt, or a dress required.

Not permitted: Tank tops, swimsuits or swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut offs, or torn clothing of any kind"

This is from the 2008 Deluxe Dining Plan!!!

My vote is for Artist Point, One of the best!
For casual, Whispering Canyon, Don't forget to ask for ketchup.

Happy Holidays!!!

Still another vote for Artist Point! We were there a few weeks ago and I had the buffalo steak as well, but substituted mashed potatoes for the hazelnut sweet potato dish (don't do hazelnuts). This was our favorite meal of the trip. DD and I wore skirts, nice blouses and sandals, DH and DS wore khakis and polo shirts with Tevas.
