VWL booking near Thanksgiving of 08

We are planning a trip to WDW during the week of Thanksgiving in 08. Arriving Tues. and leaving Sunday. We have never stayed at VWL and were hoping to try it at this time. Our home resort is SSR so we only have the 7 month window to book with. We are looking for a 1bdrm and a studio for my parents. Does anyone have any experience booking with a 7 month window at this time of the year? I know the first part of the stay may be easier but from Thurs. on will probably be tough. I also had wondered if my parents would be better off just booking normal rooms at VWL instead of renting points. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would definetly call day by day as soon as the 7 month window comes up. Have a back up plan just in case. You may want to book your home resort at the 11 month window and then see right at your 7 month window if VWL or another resort of your choosing is open.

As far as your parents renting points try to find a VWL owner that way they would be able to book at the 11 month point. Or you could also do a cash reservation at VWL or WL. My parents during our last years winter trip booked the WL while we were at the VWL. It was very convenient to all meet up together.

That was kind of what I was thinking. I think they could rent points cheaper but it may be just as easy for them to book via Disney and then not have to worry about finding and trusting someone etc... Because in the end it will come down to me taking care of it! I don't need the extra pressure. Thanks for the thoughts.
