VWL boat and bike recreation plan

I read about this in the vacation magic...Does anyone know the details?

It costs $199 and is available for a "family" of up to 5 people. It includes unlimited use of boats and bikes during the entire length of your stay. Surrey bikes are NOT included.

Having outlined the basics, I do have some other questions about it for anyone else who has done it. I have called resort marinas with these questions and have gotten CONFLICTING answers!

1. Can extended family staying in different rooms be counted together in a group of 5?

2. Can a party of 2 or 3 sign up when they arrive and others sign up as they arrive a few days later...as long as the total does not go over 5?

3. Can young children who are not one of the "five" ride along? especially if they are too young to actually do rentals themselves?
(lady at VWL marina said no way and lady at YC marina said sure no problem....makes me want to pull my hair out and scream!)

4. If you sign up for the plan at one resort (say BCV or VWL), can you use the plan at a different resort (like POLY)?

Getting different answers from different CMs at the marinas is frustrating. Who do you call to get the STRAIGHT answer? So if anybody gives you any lip when you sign up or use the plan, you can say "so and so at the place your supervisor works" said we can do it this way!

My "Vacation Magic" says 'The family plan gives up to four guests unlimited use of rental equipment for $199.00, plus tax."

I have read on these boards that it is five people. Is there more than one plan available or is it a mis-print?

I have one little one that I was wondering the same question as you. Could she ride with someone?

Also, if there are 8 people in our group, can we purchase 2 family plans? I am also wondering about transfering resorts since we will be at VWL 4 days and at BWV 7 days.

Evening everyone,

I phoned VWL marina this afternoon as we were interested in this package as we intended to stay one week at BCV and then 6 nights at our home, VWL. The package is for that resort only and not transferable, which is a great shame as we hope to use this at both but I dont intend spending over $400 on watercraft and bikes for a family of 3.


We may alter the vacation to stay at only one resort?

and yet another question.....

if you are swapping family halfway through your vacation, can you swap them in and out of the plan?

for instance, we stay 12 days. but our company (family) changes halfway through the trip .... can the departed family be taken off and the newly arriving family be added? as long as the total number at any given time does not excede 5.

also.... who do we call to get the straight answers?

I do not know if I can help much, but here is the little info I know. We were at VWL end of January, and had extended family coming in a couple days. If we had signed up for the $199 plan, everyone who was to be on it had to be there when we signed up. We had hoped BIL could join us on the plan when he got there. It was a definite "no go". It was supposed to be for 5 and they told us our 2 year old would count in that, but I imagine it is all who you speak to. We did not end up doing it, we had thought the surrey bikes would be included and did not feel we would get our moneys worth out of it. If you had teens who used the boats, wow it could be a great deal!! We just paid cash for a surrey bike rental and a couple of boat rentals, did get a little DVC discount, and only spent about $60. It could be a great deal for some, but did not work for us this year..... Good Luck!
