Check-in – Online worked perfectly for both VWL and BCV. All the papers were ready and we walked to our rooms. (This is our first stay at VWL and we have been in BCV multiple times as our home resort.)

Room Conditions (7/3 to 7/8)

VWL – Perfect – Clean and looked freshly painted, not a scratch or chip on a wall. Wow! And everything worked. Pool was OK but not all that interesting. Downside was the time it took to switch rooms to BCV as the front desk at VWL insisted I was not checking out on checkout day. DW blamed me for the confusion. :confused3

BCV – First room (210 – pool view) had a strong chemical smell in it and I called housekeeping immediately. They had us change rooms to 303 Arial’s Courtyard view.
Room had been redone, new soft goods (same rug) but the stopper in the bath sink would not work. Being handy, I went under the sink and reconnected it to the handle. That lasted two days and then it broke again on the day we were leaving. DW blamed me. :confused3 SAB was its usual spectacular but of course packed – no lounge chairs available. Also saw that all the awnings at the Beach Club were being replaced with a new white and blue stripe versus the old white and green stripe awning.

Parks – July 4th morning MK was relatively empty and we went on about 10 rides by 1pm and left. Came back about 6:30, but strayed over to Space Mountain about 8:30 and got trapped there as they closed off main street. Tried several access points but all were closed down. We could only see about half the fireworks, the main reason I planned the trip. Totally bummed. DW blamed me. :confused3

Lots of large teen groups from South America there that week. Epcot was also crowded but later in the week Hollywood Studios was only moderately packed – (the SA groups must have left).

Universal – Went to U to try Harry Potter World - total of $400 for three of us for one day both parks). The only advice I can give is take the earliest Mears bus possible – we took 7:20am, and still waited in line for 30 minutes to get in as the first group going into the castle. The ride was spectacular – a combination of Soaring, Star Tours and Dino ride in Animal Kingdom. Came out to see 1 hour lines outside some of the shops in Hogsmeade such as Olivanders for people wanting to buy a $30 wand. Did not want to wait around that long to go into a store but others had immediate access like Honeydukes. Yes we tried the butterbeer, DS loved it, I could take it or leave it. DW was happy. :woohoo:

ME - Took the 12:10 out of BCV. Arrived on time for our 2:56pm flight but accidently packed DS's shoes - had to buy him flip flops in the market place. DW blamed me. :confused3

Heat – High 80’s low 90’s lots of rain the first part of the week. However, back home in CT it was 100+ and of course coming home we saw our lawn dead and much of DWs flowers dead. DW blamed me. :confused3

Can’t wait for the next trip. :rotfl:

I'm surprised at what you said about the SAB and lounge chairs, but apparently we were there at different times. I used the pool on the 2, 3, 4 and 5th, and never had a problem finding a lounge chair. In fact, often I was the only one or only had maybe 4 companions in the lazy river part. I don't spent much time at the pool, 2 hours max, and at least 1 1/2 hour in the pool itself.

Like you, I'm looking forward to our next BCV visit!

We sure lucked out with the WDW weather, didn't we! We were caught in the rain on the 1st, to the bones...but other days, it wasn't bad at all. All of us went home to hotter conditions!

We saw MK fireworks on the 3rd and booking the Dessert party was definitely worth it. Epcot's 4th of July fireworks weren't nearly as good imho, but Epcot's finale!!!Well, that was something! What I didn't like about Epcot's was that it was announced that the music was by American composers, but the speaker near us must have been bad because we couldn't hear any music after the normal Illuminations.

No, I just checked into the price of a hotel in U for one night and the cheapest is $304 without the tickets. Could not get a price with the tickets on their site but imagine it is $600+ And we generally went single rider so the lines for the other rides wer not bad. Of course DW blamed me for not waiting in line and riding with her

We arrived at BCV on the 5th and for the 5th it was cloudy and drizzley in the afternoon so we did not go to SAB. We went on the 6th & 7th which were sunny around 4pm and could only find a couple of lounge chairs up on the top of the gazebo. It was fine but being in a nice pool kept reminding DW that our own pool which was started in December, is still far from finished thanks to a contractor that rarely shows up to finish it. Sad that BCV still has not brought back Gelatto.

I never knew there was a Mears bus that you can get to Universal? I love to go to Disney alone with my 3 older Grandchildren. Since I can't drive I never am able to bring them to Universal. Where do you get the Nears transportation and how much does it cost?

Your trip sounded great. I love split stays, to me they feel like 2 vacations in one.:cloud9:

You call Mears and they give you the resort stop schedule. At BCV its every hour at 20 past then leaving U its also every hour at 15 past. You pay the driver. Going you schedule the pickup the day before, and coming back ou call 2 hours ahead of when you want to leave U.

Cost is $18 per person round trip. Going there is fast but coming back is very slow. They stopped at Sea World and then they stopped at 5 other resorts before BCV.
