I just got off the phone with MS, I am hoping to book a 2 BR @ VWL for the week after Thanksgiving. At this time it's already not looking too hopeful, and I can't book until 7 months out which will be April 27th. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?? I really had my heart set on this, but it looks like I may have to have a back up plan. Please help!!!

The easiest would to be to rent points from someone who owns VWL as a home resort, thus getting the 11 Month HBA (Home Booking Advantage). These points could be transferred into you, or rented by you.

I agree, you best have a backup plan, so you don't get locked out.

The best option I can forsee (but I don't know how likely it is) would be a reservation swap. Where a VWL owner makes a > 7 month ressie for you, and you make a > 7 month ressie for them at your home resort!

Perhaps you should post an offer of a 'swap' on the Rent/Trade board, if it is allowed, Doc?, Anyone?....Beuhler.......

Hope this helps a little and good luck!

Yes, thank you this does help. And I would like to know if I am able to do a swap, although I don't know how many people want to go to Vero in November?? Maybe I'll post on the rent/trade boards for a swap. Thanks again!

That is a VERY busy season for DVC. I would book at your home resort now and then waitlist at 7 months...

This will probably be a tought reservation to get, but keep in mind a lot of people book at their home resort and then might switch at the 7 month window, opening up some spots. I would have a back up plan. Take any resort that DVC does have available and then waitlist at VWL. If you waitlist day-by-day then you'll probably have a pretty good chance of getting it. Of course you run the risk that you might not get all your days. You can waitlist the whole week together and then you will either get the whole reservation or go with your backup plan. I think the waitlist works pretty well for most folks, good luck!

hmmm... so, if I get a ressie now for Vero, and get waitlisted for VWL, they will call me as soon as it becomes available?? Even if it's before the 7 months?? In other words, if I get waitlisted tomorrow and VWL comes up next week, could I book it at that time, or do I still have to wait for the 7 month prior? KWIM?? :confused3 I hope I'm making sense?

ETA: never mind, I realize now, that I can't book unless it's 7 months out!! DUH!!

Oh I didn't see your home resort was Vero. Being a confirmed Vero reservation won't really help you get VWL. I would call at 7 months and book what you can get at Disney. I would bet that either SSR or OKW would have rooms. Go ahead and waitlist. You have a few choices day by day or the whole stay. I am not the type who likes to move so I would waitlist the whole stay. You can also request them to call you and/or just move the reservation. You can't waitlist until the 7 month window opens up.

Don't give up if it's booked now. Remember, there's always movement at 7 months-members who've booked at their home resort, then change. One year, I wanted BWV, which I can't book until 7 months. A nice CM looked at availability for me at 10 months and it was already booked for the time I wanted. Boy, was I discouraged! So when I called 3 months later, I was SURE I'd go on the waitlist. But apparently, enough of those BWV owners transferred to some other resort that I got it.

We stayed at VWL this past holiday season during the week after Thanksgiving. I called at the 7 month window and had to go on the waiting list, but it came through within a few weeks. My guess is there may be some availability at the 7 month window as some VWL owners might be trying to change their current reservations to another resort.
