Gee, it seems I have been plannning dh & my vr for years. .... oh that's right I have. Do to unseen events the VR we were beginning to plan for our 25th had to be canceled. We are now looking into a 30th in Nov. 2012.

In my snooping around this site, I noticed someone said that you need to have your vacation booked before scheduling the wedding/vr event. My problem is we have very specific dates in mind (do to our older children are in college and will only be joining us for a long weekend). That being said, we are dvc members and can not book our accomodations more than 11 months out.
I am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem.

We were hoping on doing a memories pkg, but was told by a DFTW rep that they will stop in April 2012, but may perhaps offer a similiar promotion.

Any help in how to begin? DH is warming up to the idea of helping plan, (He has always liked the idea of the VR itselfg, but I would love for him to be somewhat involved in the planning as well),so I would like to strike while the iron is hot.

TIA

Dee

The next smallest package after Memories is the Escape package. You can't officially confirm/book until 8 months, so this should fall after your 11 month DVC booking window. You need to have a 4 night stay for an Escape package. You don't have to have your vacation booked before for a Wishes wedding (but they do have a minimum stay requirement for you and everyone else attending).

Thank you princesswendy!

How tough do you think it is to get the date you want in off season if you wait until the 8 month mark? It is however a long weekend.

Congratulations on your up-coming 30th and welcome!!!
Have you considered having your VR at the Swan. DH and I had our VR there in May and it was perfect!!!! We missed out on none of the magic and had photos taken at the Swan, Boardwalk, BLT (we were staying here as it is one of our DVC homes) and the GF. We also did a TTD at the Poly.
There are no requirements at the Swan to have any accommodation booked at all and you can book much further out. I was all booked at over a year out!!!
You are able to customize things much more than you can with the smaller DFTW packages, but can still have things like Mickey and Minnie attend as it is still on WDW property.
Oh, and did I mention that it is way cheaper, so you get more bang for your buck!!!
Feel free to check out my PJ/TR (link in my signature) and don't hesitate to ask if you need any more information or help!!!

thanks for the info tinkerbell. I'm going to ck out your pf/tr very soon. :thumbsup2

Congrats on your upcoming 30th!

DH & I did an Escape collection VR for our 20th this past April. I booked our room after we received confirmation of our date with DFTW.

You do have to book at least a 4-night minimum but it doesn't have to be done prior to the contract.

Whichever you choose (the Swan or DFTW) have fun!!
