I've been thinking about a couple different options to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Not sure if we should do the VR at home and have a VERY nice 2nd honeymoon at WDW (split stay GF/Poly/WL, dinner at Victoria & Alberts, private dining with cake and music, fireworks cruise, etc.) or have a VR at WDW and maybe 2 or 3 days at WDW afterwards at a value resort.

So my question is, if this were you, what would you do?

I can't believe I am going to say this.....but I think the VERY nice 2nd honeymoon. It sounds wonderfully romantic and what a way to celebrate 5 years. I don't know if you have thought of the vow renewal add on. I think it is 2300 plus 4 night stay at at least a moderate result. I don't know if that is an option where you can have the best of both worlds....

I have no hesitations in saying that you should do the very nice honeymoon. When we stayed for our wedding, we were there for 10 days. It was FABULOUS! we made sure we did lots of things and to be honest, we remember the days of visiting more than the wedding. My thought is that the VR would just be one day-maybe only 1 hour of the day. Just think what that 3000.00 hour could buy over the course of an entire stay! I think the VR at home might be more intimate, more relaxing and could save you money even-that you could, of course spend in WDW!
Now, the only thing I am thinking is: were you married in WDW? It is an experience that is very cool and I can understand why you are considering the VR, especially if you have not had a wedding at WDW.
The choice is up to you, of course, but that stay you described sounds exactly like the stay I am wanting for one of our anniversaries! I think I just talked myself out of doing a VR at Disney and instead staying a very long time and having a blast!!

If you want the more relaxing option, I think it would definitely be the at home vow renewal and longer Disney vacation. It really sounds like a truly pampering experience! However, go with what your heart tells you (I know that sounds cheesy, LOL!). If it’s your dream to renew your vows at the World, then go for it! Either way, I’m sure you’ll have a fabulous time!

My DH and I had to decide between doing a Disney VR (wanted the wedding pavilion) or adding days onto our anniversary trip. We decided to stay 3 nights AKL - C and 3 nights GF Main Building - C instead of doing the VR. I left the final decision up to my DH and he thought the extra nights sounded better.

He did agree to reconsider the VR for our 15th. I was a little disappointed originally, but now I'm happy to be able to spend 14 nights in WDW with my sweetie!! :love2:

well... first...

did you and dh have a nice wedding when you got married? i know some people that eloped and got married and then did the vow renewal at disney later...

if that is the case, then go for the vow renewal there! celebrating your vows is not something that you will be able to celebrate in that way every year.

but if you did get to have a nice wedding, but not the nice long honeymoon, then go for the honeymoon!!! and just renew your vows at home.

good luck!

This is a tough question. I just renewed my vows for my 10 year at WDW WP and it was truly magical and the experience was far better than extra nights in any hotel. That said, if the location of the VR is not important to you then maybe the time in the hotel would be nice for you.

By renewing you vows at WDW you are eligible for the Bridal portrait session, which means you can get formal picture taken in front of the castle before the park opens. I was very excited about that. Also, my two DDs were able to take part in the ceremony and being at WDW was extra special for them too. (We did send them home early and me and DH stayed longer to do adult things - V&A, CA Grill with fireworks, illuminations cruise, etc).

Either way you can't go wrong.

I would choose the all-out 2nd honeymoon. Especially since it's only your 5th anniversary, there will be many more to come. Meaning many more chances for VR's. JMO. :flower:
