Hi All. I'm new to this board and am trying to figure out what steps and rules Disney has in place for their VRs (and/or weddings). If anyone could lists the steps they've been though, it would be incredibly helpful not only to me but other newbies I hope.
We're looking at two years for our 5 year anniversary. From what I think I've gathered thus far, you can only reserve the date a year in advance.
I guess I'll put down what I'm thinking/questioned and you can either answer directly or post your list of what you've done/did and we can all learn.
I got the planning book and dvd-haven't gotten to watch the dvd yet. The prices in the back-does that cost include everything at the wedding (food/beverages, flowers, pictures, ect) or no?
Location-suggestions??? I love the MK one but can't justify the cost by any means. I like the resorts or outside where you can see the castle in the distance.
Invites-do you have to use Disney invites or can I pick my own out (thinking about matching the heart themed ones from our actual wedding and working in Disney with some "classy" stickers to seal the envelopes or something)
Photographer-is it all Disney or could you hire someone from outside? We've got a friend (our old photographer from MI) who just moved to Orlando that I could work a deal out with I'm guessing cheaper than Disney.
"Renting" Characters (don't know if that's the correct term or not)-has anyone done this?? Was it worth it? I see on the disney weddings website that they can attend the ceremony for a fee.
Food/Beverages-what kinds of options are there?? I'm pretty picky and there will be kids in attendance. What options do I have?
Receptions-what options are here? I just want to do something totally fun.
Wedding theme-did you have one?? Care to share what it was? As much as I would love to be a princess, I'm the only one in the house so it might be a pretty tough sell.
Cake topper-are you allowed to provide your own?
Special touches to include/honor special people-I'd like to do something for our boys since only our DS4 was at our first wedding when he was 9 months old. Maybe a special cake or something like that??
Rooms-how did you choose where to stay? How did it all work out?? Do you fall under the "grand gathering" planning for those having a larger wedding?
Attendance-how many invited actually attended? DH's family is quite large, between that and a few friends and my mom, we'd have about 30 people invited and I'm thinking most would show up. Did you have problems with getting people to come?
Special requests-did you make any? How did it work out?
Dress code-I'm looking for something more casual...thinking like khakis and button down shirts for the guys and casual sun dress somethings for the girls...does it have to be formal??
Overall thoughts on the process-was it worth it? Were your expectations met?
Also, if you're willing to share, if you could reccomend vendors that would certainly be very helpful as a starting point!
Thank you all so much for any help you could provide!
