Hello all-
I've been spending some time the last few days reading a number of posts here about your upcoming weddings/vow renewals and had a couple of questions.

  1. How long does it take to get information from DFTW web site? iI requested info back in early Feb & have not recived anything yet. Just wondering if I should call & request info?
  2. For those of you who have done/are planning vow renewals, are you inviting many people to "witness" or take part in the event? When DH and I mentioned it our relatives seemed to think it would be odd to invite anyone else since it was @ WDW. Wondering what others experiences have been.
  3. It appears that you need to spend X # of dollars for certain events (& since I don't have the printed info forgive me for asking this) but is a vow renewal as expensive as a full-blown wedding? Obviously I am assuming it costs as much as you want to spend, but there is a minimum, correct?

DH & I will be married 13 years (next Monday) and we looking ahead to our 15 year wedding anniversary. We'd possibly like to renew our vows but not sure how extravagant we'd go. We are thinking of inviting close family/friends, but want this event to be more for "us" than our large (circus, lol) wedding was in 1992 when we were 22 & 25. We listened to too many other people's advice (his family / my family) and ended up with 550 guests at a fully staffed convention center. This time things will be what we want! :)

Hi Karen,

My husband and I are planning a Vow Renewal ceremony for Friday, December 16th for our 10th anniversary.

We actually have had very good response from our friends and family. But we have gone through many difficulties during this 10 years (and a few in the 25 years we have known each other). They are very supportive.

Timing is really important. We are not able to have our vow renewal on our actual anniversary because it didn't work out with many guests. However, the date was not as important as having family with us.

If you haven't received information, give them a call again. I actually put in a call to the Disney Wedding Planning asking for someone to call me back to coordinate my wedding and after two weeks I called back. They were shocked and someone called me back that same day. Since then, I have had great contact. But you have to initiate. You are competing with many other brides trying to schedule their events.

We are treating our ceremony pretty much like our wedding. At our original wedding we committed our love and devotion to each other in front of our family and friends. We plan to do the exact same thing again. The wording will be different and we will say our own vows, but we will have an officiant, a wedding gown, flowers, bridesmaid, etc.

Technically your wedding ceremony doesn't make you married. The papers you file with the Clerk of Court office does. You do it because of your religious beliefs, your desire to share it with family, and wanting to shout your love out to the world.

There are certain minimums and it depends on the time of year. We are doing our ceremony during the value season so all minimums are lower than usual. We are having a custom wedding because we will have about 20-25 people. But you can have an intimate wedding for a very reasonable price. If you have 10 or less guests, including you and your husband, you can have a nice ceremony starting at $3,200 and stay at a Moderate resort. Of course, you can spend more, but you can keep it to your budget.

If we didn't have so many guests that wanted to come with us, then we would have had our ceremony at the Polynesian, but they only do this for Intimate Weddings.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

PS I notice you have a Cure Autism Ribbon. My son has Asperger's Syndrome.

J & L-thanks for all the info! I will plan on calling tomorrow and then following up in a few weeks if I don't hear something.

We are talking about the different options for the vow renewal and not sure what we want to do, but would be good to have the info in front of us, lol!

I agree, that we were married for the right reasons, but celebrated our wedding the way that many others wanted us to. It will be really nice to do things just because we want to! :)

I'm sure I'll be full of questions as we progress through this and thanks so much for your info. Sounds like yours will be terrific and good luck with your planning and preparations. :flower:

BTW-My DS has AS too, just diagnosed last year (he's 8 1/2) so we feel like we are learning a whole new language sometimes!
