Hi there,
We are renewing our vows in December 2003 to celebrate our 30th anniversary. There will be a total of 11 family members and we will be cruising on the 4 day Wonder. I can't wait.
My daughter and son's girlfriend are my atendants/bridesmaids and I am having an ivory dress made.
We are from the UK and this will be a special holiday for us, we are starting off In Vegas for 5 nights then onto WDW in Caribbean Beach then off on the Wonder.
In the UK Vow renewals are not very common and there is such an interest shown when I visit the bridal shops etc and two magazines are going to make a feature of it in their editions
It is difficult to get details here in the UK so I am reliant on Disney Direct and have made a booking through Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and Cathy Ingles is my co-ordinator.
My neice and her husband have given us all Disney Character names, I am Tinker Bell and my Husband is Peter Pan, my dad is Dopey, mum Snow White and so it goes on. I am making my own invitations and the place cards for the meal, I am putting the disney character names on the place cards for dinner- should cause a laugh or two. I have also bought some Mickey Mouse ears (after a long and hard search here in the UK) and I am decorating them all with something from the character for each guest, and then they will be at the dinner table for all to wear - they don't know it yet tho! Our son will just love his Pongo ears!!
We hope to have a few dances after the ceremony, and my husband and I have chosen 'How Sweet it is to be loved by you' by Marvin Gaye as our first dance!
On the invitations I have written in smallish writing 'a dream is a wish your heart make.......' then on the order of service (or programme of the ceremony) I will write ' when you wish upon a star' ........... The girls will walk into When you Wish Upon a Star and then I have chosen 'Evergreen' by Barbara Striesand (words are so lovely for 30 years of marriage) to make my grand entrance
I have also got a Tinker Bell stamp (again after a long hard find) that appears throughout the invitations etc and I hope, not confirmed this yet, the Captain will say at the end of the Renewal 'It just goes to show, if you wish upon a star, your dreams really do come true' as the final words.
I am trying to put a 'wish upon a star' theme though it all, if you see what I mean.
I have posted several messages on different boards to try and contact anyone who has actually done a vow renewal on board, but so far, no success.
I hope this is of some use to you, please ask any questions you wish.
Rosemary
