I know there are many of us on here planning Vow Renewals in the coming years...I was wondering, for those of you who already have them booked or will be booking soon..

Are you having your vow renewal on your actual anniversary date?

I'm in a quandry, my actual anniversary date revolves around Memorial Day and I just don't think I want to do that again. I was thinking about doing it approximately 2 weeks earlier. Is that silly?

Tell me girls...what do you think? :confused3

I don't think that's silly at all. We haven't booked ours yet since it is so far away but I was planning on doing it the actual anniversary day. I can understand you not wanting to do yours on the actual day since it's Memorial Day. It will probably be very crowded and more expensive. I was even thinking of doing ours a different month just to have better weather. I am not sure what it will be like in October since that is still hurricane season. :confused3

I guess it would be nice to have the exact date of your anniversary, but not a 'must do'. Our VR date is not on our ann. date. We married in August as that was the only time my mum could come over (she was a teacher in Dubai at the time) and that is way too hot, busy and expensive just about everywhere. Due to work commitments, DH and I can only take time off in May and Dec, so we chose Dec for the cooler weather (we're English so Florida in Dec is just fine for us!) and also all the wonderful C'mas decorations as well.

incidently dznymom3, October 8th is my birthday and I'll be 40 next year, so our VR is really my B'day gift (to myself!!)

Dee~What a great present to yourself!! I will think of you on our anniversary :)

I had thought about doing it in December as well for the Christmas decorations. Does anyone know what the weather is like in October? We kind of wanted to do it at the Boardwalk Sea Breeze Point. I have always wanted an outside wedding.

is in December, just because that's our favorite time of year at WDW.

Our actual anniversary is in July!!!

We're doing ours in December rather than in August. Our wedding here in Michigan was hot in August, I couldn't imagine doing it again in Florida! lol We haven't booked yet because of their booking requirements.

Haven't figured out a date yet.....I am leaning toward the actual anniversary date - which would be a Thursday, perfect for Disney. Although we almost scheduled a vow renewal for our adult vacation in Jamaica (13 days and counting) which would have been 6 months before our 10 yr anniversary. With a VR, I don't think that it matters. VR's are REALLY all about you and not what anyone else wants - there isn't the same level of stress or concern about pleasing the in-laws, etc.

We did ours on May 1 and our actual anniversary is April 22. While we were at Disney on our actual anniversary, it wouldn't have worked for our vow renewal because 4/22 was a Saturday this year--no intimates on Saturdays--and still in peak season rates for the Easter holiday (we were at Shades of Green at that point). And, we really wanted our vow renewal to be on an odd date. DH and I, plus the 3 kids all have odd date birthdays. The only even date we had was our anniversary. So we wanted our vow renewal to be on an odd date. Silly, I know, but a fun idea for us.

We decided not to have our Vow Renewal on the actual day. We were married Dec. 27. Absolutely impossible to arrange a Vow Rewnewal for that day. Besides, after all the tooing and froing for the holidays we generally celebrate very quietly. Instead, we're going do have it in Oct. during Food & Wine Fest. our favorite time to be at Disney. That way we can wildly celebrate our anniversary at WDW every year.LOL

I was wondering the same thing. Our anniversary is June 3, but it would be hard to do a VR on that date with our kids school schedules. I thought about doing it on December 3 instead which would be a half year anniversary.

Tinkerbellz, my FTW custom vow renewal was on the date of my actual anniversary. I had wanted to do it on Halloween since that is the date that we had met and the date that my husband had actually proposed, but it wound up being on our actual anniversary instead (drats!). Maybe for our 25th, we’ll have a vow renewal on Halloween (hope springs eternal!).

No matter what date you chose to celebrate your marriage, I hope you have a beautiful ceremony. Congratulations.

Thanks for all the words of wisdom ladies...I think we'll do 2 weeks before to work with everyone's schedule.

Janet2k, I sure wish I could do this VR like yours....I love your TR and your advice is priceless.

Thank you all for everything. I put a lot of weight behind the experiences of the folks on this board. :grouphug: for everyone..

We are also doing our VR on a different date. Our acutal anniversary is in September and because of school schedules we can't make that date. So we are having our VR in May of 07. We are having a cruise renewal and then going to WDW for 5 days after. Can't wait.

Tinkerbellz, it sounds like you have a plan. Congratulations! That is a BIG decision to make, believe me. Even my parents debated that decision -- they chose to celebrate their 50th anniversary over the Christmas / New Year's holidays so that everyone could be there to celebrate with them (their real wedding anniversary fell in a different month). I'm glad they chose to do it that way (but I would have been there no matter when they chose to celebrate their anniversary).

Again, congratulations on selecting your date. Now the REAL fun begins! ;)

We are not going to have our VR on our anniversary. We are having it to celebrate 10 years. We were married on 9/11/99 and plan on having VR 12/09. There would be too many chances w/hurricanes (our honeymoon was during hurricaine floyd), etc in september, plus my son will just be starting up a new school year. We love Christmas time at Disney, and after seeing some of the pictures on the board from the GF at Christmas time.
