I'm gathering info for a possible vow renewal at Disney for our 20th, which is still 4 years away. I love the idea of the Illuminations dessert party. Can a VR take place AT the dessert party, before the fireworks start?
Anyone else have a response? We don't want fancy, we won't be doing a wedding dress and tux, no walking down an aisle, etc. Just a vow exchange/renewal with friends and family. Anyone have any experience with this?
Disney's policy has been no events can take place in a theme park in an open area during park operating hours which usually includes one hour after the posted closing time. You can have events in theme park venues that are out of view (Living Seas has a private lounge) or you can rent out an entire pavillion (such as the American Adventure). They won't even allow brides to be seen walking around a park in wedding attire with the exception of an escorted walk to a viewing area right before Illuminations. Disney does not care if you are doing a formal event or casual - the same rules apply. You can't do an event without Disney's event planning services (Fairy Tale Weddings) they will stop you and escort you out. That said - it was the best time of my life and worth every penny. You could either do a regular Vow Renewal and have an Illuminations party, or you could just have an anniversary party at an Illuminations party without the vow renewal part. If you wanted to do that you would contact Group Dining and arrange a private party/event for your group. The down side to that is you don't get discounted rooms and such, however the discounts available to the general public are very good these days and often better than the rate offered to FTW couples.
