I have a dilemma and I'm hoping someone can help.

We are DVC members and have a 10 day stay at AKV booked for our 5th Anniversary. I asked dh last night what we are going to do on the actual date and asked if he wanted to renew our vows on the balcony of our room at AKV and he said "NO, I want to do it at Wilderness Lodge".

We had talked about getting married there, but then got married at a relative's house in Melbourne.

It would just be 6 of us, including me, dh, our best friends (who were the ministers for our wedding and hopefully would do the VR,) and our relatives whose house we were married in.

I truly can't think of anything I need - my bouquet was artificial and looks as beautiful as the day we got married, so I'd want to use that. I'm fine without music.

The only thing I can think of is a cake....

What are my chances of Disney cooperating and not charging me an arm and a leg?

That is the link to the cake thread with numbers to call.

For our 10th we stayed at OKW and had friends come down and we did our "ceremony" there and then went off to Epcot for dinner. We really didn't need to make any arrangements with Disney, so I don't know what they would say aoubt you going to a different resort, or whether or not they would charge you. We had made a comment to the CM while checking in that it was our 10th and she sent over champagne, a balloon, and some fruit without!!! It was a wonderful gesture.

Good luck and have fun.

Thanks chepic!

Did you do it in a public area or in a room?

I would be fine doing it overlooking the Savannah at AKV and I'm sure I could talk dh into that (especially if there were a price differential!)

We did it right in our room on the balcony. We had a 2 bedroom villa, so it was a good size. It overlooked the 7th hole. A friend of ours is a boat captain, so he did the renewal that we wrote, we had a slow dance, toasted with champagne, and then went off to eat in France. They had brought out a wonderful dessert tray for us, complements of the chef. It was really nice, and didn't cost us any extra.

For our 20th we went all out and went on the cruise with a formal VR which was spectacular.

Why does he want to go to the Wilderness Lodge? We have stayed there and I can't think of a spot there that would be prettier than the Animal Kingdom area. I would think the balcony overlooking the Savannah would be wonderful.

we didnt renew our vows but we did have an anniversary cake at dinner on our anniversary, along with a family photo shoot & the wishes cruise!!

I agree Cheryl -

I think he wants to do it there because WLV is our home resort and when we were getting married we talked about eloping there, but I think at that time you had to have less than 8 guests or the cost went up to something like $20,000. We had 15 guests and couldn't see spending the money.

The ceremony was great though - Disney themed - we got Randy Chapman to take the photos and it was pretty funny because our last name is Chapman and he looks like he could be dh's brother! (and they are both photogs)

I think you convinced me Cheryl - I think we'll plan for the balcony in our room - if we can get the balcony overlooking the Zebra Trail (just off the Victoria Falls Lounge) that would be cool - maybe I'll talk to guest relations or the Resort Manager when we check in. We check in on the 12th and our anniversary is the 18th.....

myprincessgirlisa great photo! Love the cake!

Thanks!:)

I think that is wise, let the desk manager know that this is a special week for you, and you never know what will be delivered to your room!!! I don't know how they knew it the last time we went, but it was my 40th birthday and Cinderella sent me a balloon with a signed card stating happy birthday!!!! So I think with a smile, a nice voice, and a little bit of pixie dust, magic will come your way...;)

That is funny about your name being the same as the photographer!!! All I ever get is "are you related to Jean Luke PIcard from Star Trek"....crazy.

Yikes that is crazy!

I remember being on the phone with Randy and telling him it was a small ceremony and in Melbourne, but when I told him dh's name and that he was a photog and that they looked alike (he had a pic on his website then) he said "Well now I HAVE to shoot your wedding because I HAVE to meet your husband!":rotfl:

Too funny....

Thanks for the advice Cheryl and keep me in your thoughts for some pixie dust coming our way in January!

Not to be a stalker....but when in Jan. Our anniversary is Jan 23rd

January 18th. - I just hope there isn't a playoffs game that day, and if there is and the Patriots are in it, we may have to work around it.

We had to do that on our wedding day - we got married at noon and were sitting on the couch eating wedding cake, watching the Pats beat the Colts in the playoffs by 2:00pm. Every guy I talk to says "You're husband had the BEST wedding EVER!":lmao:
