Yes you can go to the ticket booths before security and exchange your vouchers. We were there for our first trip in May and we had a character meal the first night we got there. The exchange for the meal tickets was pretty easy. Enjoy and have fun!

Ok not to thread jack but I was hoping to hear more about where you can buy vouchers to character breakfasts before getting there (we LOVE to pre-pay when we can) as well as which ones you can buy for and if there is any discount!! I hadn't heard about this before so this is great to hear- sounds like its easy to change the voucher for the meal?

I also would love to hear, is there really any savings? We are going to Ariels Grotto (4 adults, 2 kids) and its expensive!!! Any savings would be worth it!!!

Actually when I look up the voucher it says $44 per adult and on all the web pages I can find, which is hard to know, says 36 or 42 or something like that. None say as high as $44. Why would you buy the voucher?

hi! well i am really a first timer to DLR...
i am getting them from getawaytoday.com the vouchers include the tax and tip, so it's all taken care of... i reaaaally do not know if there is any saving at all (i believe i read somwhere you save when its lunch or dinner)
i just want to have that expense covered :)
sorry i am not much help

Hmm... I didn't see that it said it included tax and tip, but I guess I'm confused on how it could include tip since you will want to tip people that are there with cash not a voucher right? I also saw the prices were more than the prices I found, so I guess I'm confused. Is there any other sites that sell these as well? Any DIS veterans use them before? I would love to have this taken care of ahead of time too, but I'd rather pay at the front then spend an extra $5 a person too :confused3

It depends on which character meal and who is in your group. Last summer we got vouchers for Surf's up and Goofy's Kitchen. We ended up saving about $20 at Surf's up. At Goofy's the adult vouchers ended up being the same as paying upfront, but the child price was slightly less by getting the vouchers. We were staying onsite so we just had the vouchers added to our room bill, so I don't have any experience with getawaytoday.

As for the tip, yes it is included. At most of the character meals you pay before you eat, so they calculate the tip for you. At Ariel's you pay after, but I think that's because you can order alcohol there. You can always tip more after if you like.

We bought vouchers for our meals in March through Orbitz while Ebates was offering 20% cash back, so we got a 20% discount on the meals. The vouchers include tip -- I believe it was 18% gratuity? -- so all we needed to do was present them when the bill came. If you order any additional items (like the drinks we ordered at Ariel's) it has to be paid for (and tipped) separately.

The 20% was an unusual offer but typically you can get 1-5% cash back through Orbitz with Ebates so it's worth checking into. Pre-paying is very nice but you do lose the flexibility of cancelling!

jemmi, i received an attached invoice from GAT, a summary of my purchase (i just bought the meal vouchers)
is that what i need to print to exchange??
TIA sorry for so many questions

Last year we had vouchers for breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen. We had to exchange our vouchers at the desk where you check into the hotel prior to our meal reservation (didn't find that out until we showed up at our reservation time though). So if you're eating there, it is an option and there was no line-up to do this.
