Voting

Our license laws change when you're 18 (there are no restrictions anymore) and the shape/design changes, so I wanted to update mine when I turned 18. It wouldn't have expired for five years otherwise, I just wanted to update it, lol.

Our doesn't change at all until you're 21. Well, mine could since I got mine pretty much the month before they changed it so under 21 was vertical instead of the standard horizontal in NH. So I guess I could change mine, but I like the fact that I'm going to be one of the last people in the state with an old license.

And I kinda like my red box (NH puts a red box around the photo if you're under 21).

Nobody should be forced to vote.

But I will be able to in the next election! My friends and I are excited to have a part in it, I think it is important.

I didn't know that it was a law that Australians had to vote. This makes me laugh because I just listened to a man speak about voting and he used the whole American Idol thing and the past election, but then he told us that 97% of Australians vote. Everyone was so shocked and now I know that it is not a good comparison on his part, obviously, lol.

He probably used that for just that reason. He knew that a lot of people that have never lived that aren't going to know that. I think it was kind of smart on his part.

But see that's just one of the problems with comparisons these days; They tell you a study was done and that blank people support blank. Well if you look up that study, you find out that those people only support it under a strict condition or something like that. Too many people today just take everything at face value. You should do some research yourself.

Which also ties back into the voting thing. You can't just base your vote on campaign ads or what some people say. You have to dig a little deeper, and not everyone is willing to do that; and if people like that are forced to vote, it won't do much good.

I was a little angry that he used such a statistic. Mostly because, they had a group of us go for the sole purpose of learning about government and voting and he used a comparison that is really no comparison at all. He did not tell us that Australians had to vote, but I do understand he only said it because he wants us to vote. It was smart, but very misleading.

As are so many things in today's society.
